Chantel's POV:
I grabbed the flowers resting on the vehicle's seat and held them all together so that they will look neat. I left the car and went straight to Angelie's room. This has been my routine in the past few days, in the morning I would visit Angelie and bring her flowers, and then at night, I would drive to Taran to finish what I have been dreading to do—to burn our family's ship.
I opened the door with a sweet smile on my face but it quickly faded when I didn't find Angelie on her bed. I placed the flowers in the vase and quickly left the room to ask around for her.
"Have you seen Angelie?"
The older men pointed to the beach, I swept my head towards the direction of the ocean and saw Anne, Kalia, and Angelie walking along the shoreline, I heavily sighed and joyfully ran to the shore.
Anne was the first to notice me and she gave me a look that I can't quite tell, Kalia, on the other hand, stiffened when she saw me behind Angelie. I gave them a scowl before engulfing Angelie with a hug.
I felt Angelie freeze beneath me, I started to feel strange and let Angelie break our hug. I gave her a worried look but she kept her eyes trained on me with a gasp. Her eyes widened, I can't seem to get her attention so I cupped her face and intensely looked directly into her eyes.
Her hands instantly made their way to my chest to push me away from her.
"Um, look, y-you're hot and all...but don't you think you're taking it way too fast?"
I scoffed and my eyes went to Anne and Kalia to question what was going on with Angelie. They both grabbed me by the wrist and excused us to Angelie. Angelie just nodded with a dreamy look on her face.
"What was that?"
"Chantel, we need you to calm down before we tell you about everything, got it?"
I tilted my head sidewards and nodded.
"Angelie has this condition called Retrograde amnesia, the medic here said that she has lost most of her recent memories but can still remember small bits of it as she fully recovers."
I stood there not knowing what to do. My eyes went back to where Angelie was and saw her playing with the water with her legs lying flat on the sands.
"Excuse me." I left the both of them and started running.
I went to my room and closed the door behind me, when my body can't take it anymore, I sat on the ground and let the sadness I was feeling out. Tears started forming around my eyes again, which I hated.
If my parents were still alive and saw me crying my guts out, they will probably tell me that I need to be strong, Edevanes are not weak, and be like your sister Chelsea...
I need to do it.
I mustered the energy to stand up and go back outside. I just know that this time I would not back out, I shall burn our family's ship in Taran.
"Chantel! What's with the rush?"
I took a look behind my back and saw a worried Mara, I suddenly felt bad for ignoring her for a minute.
"I am just going for a drive."
Mara gave me a firm nod but I saw her carefully watching me as I walked to the vehicle outside the gates of Valhalla. I settled on the seat and released a heavy sigh before starting the engine.
The drive didn't take long because the Taran is just a few distances from Valhalla.
My eyes quickly caught our ship and that made me go outside the vehicle. I brought everything I need to put this sickening thing on flames. I picked up first the gallon that has fuel in it.
I started to pour it all over the ship, starting from the outside until the fuel reached below the ship that once where held Chelsea which made her what she is.
I stood far away from the ship before igniting the fire. I watched as the ship started to be enveloped by fire, wooden planks started to fall that soon turned into ashes.
I gave the burnt ship a last glance before I made my way back to the vehicle. As much as I want to go back inside Taran, there's really nothing to go back to because everything was slated clean like Taran never existed.
I drove back to Valhalla with one thought in my head...
The Council won't mess with us again.
