~~Chapter 16~~

"It cut off..." Nene says, picking up the radio while walking to the other two.

"Welp, that's that." Y/n shrugs.

"Did you finish up?" Natsuhiko asks, turning to them.

"Yes. He said to open doors we recognize." Nene responds.

He nods, humming. "Well, if the seventh wonder said that, then it's probably the way to go." He puts his fingers on his chin. "Open doors we recognize, huh?"

He then goes to the door next to them, knocking. "How about this one?" "WAIT! He said to be careful because some may lead to dangerous places!!" Nene informs. "Ah, it'll be fine."

He opens the door. "Hey, is anybody home? Nah, of course not." A giant green thing with a spring neck comes out of it. "How can I help you?" It asks, voice pretty deep.

Nene shrieks, her hands on her mouth, and Y/n stands, dumbfounded. Natsuhiko slowly turns around, then slams the door. "DUDE! YOU TRYING TO DIE?!" Y/n yells. "We're gonna pretend that didn't happen," Natsuhiko says, ignoring the girl. "Yeah. Okay." Nene agrees.

Door 2...

"Movin' along! One more try!" "NOO! Hang on a second!" "Bro." A bunch of Mokke comes tumbling out, bringing down the two teens closest to that door. Y/n snickers.

Door 3...

"Third times the charm, right!" 

A skeleton holding up a thumbs-up melts in lava, saying; "I'll be back!"

Door 4...

"This one can't be worse than that!"

Fire burst out of the door, toasting Natsuhiko. He closes the door. "Okay..." He looks at the girls. "Let's proceed with caution." Y/n furrows her brows. "You said that since he's a wonder listen to him, right? AS YOU'RE OPENING RANDOM DOORS." She turns to Nene. "If he dies, it's not my fault."

He sighs as they walk around. "Sorry about that. Something about being alone with cute girls made me feel like I had to show off, y'know?" Y/n stares at the ground. "Yepp..." "Suure." Nene responds.

They stop. "Say, this one looks cool." "It looks cool, but is it famil-" A chameleon comes out of the door, grabbing him with his tongue. He starts screaming.

So much for proceeding with caution. At least this helps take my mind off things. But something doesn't add up... "Hey.. Uh... Why aren't you upset right now?" Nene asks, walking to him. Y/n watches from a distance, crossing her arms.

"I mean... Sakura betrayed you, didn't she? She left you all alone. Doesn't that hurt?" He just smiles at her, humming. "Nah. It's good! For one, I wouldn't say she 'betrayed me.' I already told you my theory that she treats me like this to show me her love. So this is just a trial of love."

"I can't say how in denial you are..." Y/n mutters, walking next to her friend. Natsuhiko opens the door, and out comes the green thing from before, grabbing him.

He screams, getting dragged through the door. Nene shrieks and Y/n flinches, staring at him. "Nene! Nene, listen!" Wow. Just gonna ignore me. He holds up a thumb. "Good luck."

And that is the last they have heard from him. "Who wants their last words to be 'Good luck?" Y/n asks, turning to her friend. 

"He's dead!" A Mokke yells.

"Yeah. Wayy dead." Another agrees.

"We'll press on. I won't let his sacrifice be in vain!" Nene shouts.  

"He died." A Mokke says, placing flowers on the doorstep.

"Actually... Something tells me he'll make a miraculous return." Nene mutters, walking away.

"Now what?" "Well... We don't wanna open random doors, or we'll end up like Natsuhiko." Y/n murmurs. "I don't know where to start! If only we had a clue!"

A song starts playing, one familiar. Nene runs to a door with a red monster in it, causing it to shriek, however, Y/n has found the door already. (Y/n is speed.)

She walks through it, hearing the sound that's played after school. Her face brightens. "Hey! I found the door!" She exclaims, looking around the classroom. 

She stops when her eyes land on a certain boy... "Y-Y/n...?" He asks. He then jumps up, running to her, and pulls her into a hug. "Y/n!! Where have you been?! I was so worried about you! What kind of clothes are you wearing...?" He asks, pulling away.

Y/n frowns. "Amane... I'm sorry, but... I'm not gonna be here for very long." His smile turns into a frown. "But... Why?" She kisses his cheek. "I'll see you later though, okay?" He nods sadly. 

Both look toward Nene dancing around the room out of happiness. "Wh-Who is..." Amane asks as she runs over to him. "Wait- What happened to your arms? And your cheek? And were you crying?" She asks, looking at the bandages. 

"I- um... Gotta go! BYE Y/N AND FAT ANKLES!"

"Wha- FAT ANKLES?!" Yashiro exclaims then notices a rocket key chain. "Look! It's a key chain." She points out. Y/n picks it up. Oh. He kept it. She smiles. "Hey! Amane you forgot your-" "Found you~!"

"No! Hanako- Wait!" Y/n shouts, but the joudai only surrounds them, everything goes black.

Friday, July 18, 1969

Wise words: Be wary of losing things.

The third stall starts shaking, then out comes the two teenagers. Hanako catches Y/n, and Yashiro lands on the mattress he set up.

"Hello girls~ You enjoy your vacation~?"

Y/n looks at him. "Hanako, I was--" She cuts herself off. Hanako looks at her clothes. "When'd you change into this weird outfit?" "Weird? But I kinda like it..."

"Brace yourself, kay?" He hugs her tightly. "Huh?"

"I'm so sorry..." He whispers in her ear. "What do you mean?" "I ruined the donuts you made me. I've wanted to apologize, but I couldn't get the chance to. Do you forgive me?"

She nods her head. "Good. Now then.... It's just.. These clothes are weirding me out. One second." The haku-joudai change her into her normal clothes. 

"You can keep the broach. And here's those clothes since you said you like them. Just.. Don't wear them around me." He hands her the clothes. 

"It's just... I like the way you look in your normal clothes." She looks at the uniform. "Oh.. Well... Thank you, I guess." He giggles. They then turn the the mattress to say something to Nene, but she's already gone.

"Well, she's gone." Hanako nods. He then walks to the window, and turns toward her. "I missed you, Y/n," She nods, still holding the rocket ship keychain. "Welcome back home."

"Home..." She mutters. She walks over to Hanako, hugging him. "Yeah." She smiles. "I'm home." She whispers, her head buried in his shoulder.

I'm always being saved by Hanako, and he's always watching over me... But... If I could, I'd wish to be able to save him instead... I couldn't in the past, but... What if I can now?
