too quickly, it was time for us to leave. as i opened the boot of luke's car, i felt my breath catch in my throat as i saw his suitcases. "are we meeting them at the airport?" i asked, hearing my voice catch. luke nodded and pulled me into him. i didn't want to leave the safety of his strong arms.

ever.

***

the drive to the airport was solemn. we didn't really speak the entire journey. when we pulled up at the airport, i felt the tears begin to fall. why was i crying so much?

luke and i walked into the airport, hand in hand. as he checked in, we saw a few excited fans, all asking for pictures and autographs. luke's fame left me feeling bitter-sweet. i was proud of him, but he was constantly swarmed by girls.

however, one fan in particular made me feel a little better. when seeing our entwined hands, she asked us if we were dating. luke nodded proudly, putting an arm around my shoulder. the fan looked from me to luke, as if deciding upon something. "i ship it," she said, smiling, before walking away. luke and i laughed out loud before heading over to his family.

when we reached the hemmings crew, i saw calum, michael and ashton waiting as well, their families in tow. of course, katrina was clutching onto michael, while julia was talking with ashton's brother, harry. surprisingly, elena was there too. i gave my friends a quick hug before making my way over to my aunty, calum's mum, and mali-koa.

all too soon, it was time for the boys to board. everyone was crying. i walked over to luke, wrapping my arms around him. "you have your necklace?" he whispered into my hair. i nodded, unable to stop the tears from falling. luke kissed me quickly before saying goodbye to his family.

i walked towards mali-koa, wrapping an arm around her. "how are you?" she asked. i laughed at the question. "how do you think?" i replied, shaking my head. she gave my shoulder a squeeze before heading over to calum.

through my tears, i saw michael, ash and calum walking towards me. "hey there, little one," calum said sadly, ruffling my hair. i smiled weakly, "hi." michael wrapped his arms around me as i began to cry once again. i then felt ashton's arms around me. "don't worry," michael said," we'll make sure luke talks to you every day. ashton laughed, that wonderful, clear laugh, and shook his head. "i honestly don't think he'll need reminding," ash said. i laughed. these boys always knew just how to cheer me up. "i'll miss you guys," i said quietly.

i smiled as i saw luke walking towards me. he didn't say a word, just wrapped his arms around my waist and held me. "i love you," luke whispered, before walking away. "i love you too," i said back.

and then they were gone. just like that. as their plane took off into the sky, i felt a deep sadness stir inside of me. i watched the plane as it disappeared into the clouds. and just as it vanished from sight, it began to rain.
