"i'm gonna miss playing with you guys." lily said as she and the band finished the final run through for their last performance. "plus, you guys are my only friends, who am i going to talk to when you're all away at college?"
katie, chloe and faye all look at eachother, before they looked at the younger girl and brought her into a group hug. "you'll be fine without us, i know it." faye said as they all pulled away from the hug. "plus it's not like we're leaving right now. we'll still be here, but just not all the time as we'll be busy."
"yeah, and i know that if you took some of that confidence you have on stage and used it when talking to people, you'd have so many friends already." chloe told her, making lily shake her head.
"that's the thing, being on stage is easy. i don't have to talk to anyone on stage. and besides, not a lot of people pay attention to me up there, you guys are the front of the band, and i like it that way." lily said with a small smile. "talking to people i don't know is different because i always end up overthinking things and i talk myself out of doing it. or i get nervous and words just start spilling out of my mouth and i can never stop it."
"well," katie said as all the girls put their instruments away and headed inside her house for a snack before they all went to their separate homes, "i think that one day your confidence will grow, baby petal, and you're gonna be thriving. you just have to see yourself the way that we see you." katie said as she nudged to younger girl slightly.
"yeah, one day." lily said quietly to herself. she smiled at the girls and waved them goodbye, before heading back down to katie's garage to grab her drumsticks and put them into her hair and looked around at the make shift studio one last time. luckily, katie had a set of drums at her house, so lily didn't have to move the ones that were in her house. she just brought her drumsticks because they were her 'lucky charm.'
they were some old drumsticks that she had found in the attick when she was younger, and they had the names of 'sunset curve' on them. she only played with them when they performed, or on special occasions because she didn't want them to break. but she always had them on her.
sighing to herself, lily left katie's house and made the journey back home. luckily, katie's house wasn't too far away from her own, only a 20 minute walk.
the sun was setting as she walked home, and lily was a sucker for a good sunset. she grabbed her phone out of her back pocket and took a picture of it, before plugging in her headphones and playing some music.
when she got home, she took her headphones off and unlocked the front door, surprised to find the house quiet. not saying anything, she enjoyed the silence and headed up to her room. she knew her parents were home, as their cars were outside, so she didn't want to cause an argument by saying anything.
kicking off her shoes, she grabbed a towel and headed to the bathroom, turning on the shower.
in the shower was where lily did most of her thinking. tonight, she was thinking about the fact that after tomorrow, she would no longer be in a band. and yes, she knew that the band wouldn't last forever, but it still saddened her.
she turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around herself and her hair, and walked back into her bedroom. she sat down at her vainity and took off the remains of her makeup that the shower didn't remove, and did her night time skin routine. she then took the towel from her hair and blow dried it, then running some hair oil through it.
once that was done, she got dressed into her pyjamas and settled into bed, calling it a night.
