lily ended up finding julie in her bedroom, a frown etched onto her features.
"i'm guessing alex and reggie told you about crossing over?" lily mumbled to julie as she jumped onto her bed and nestled herself into julies side.
"yup," julie replied back as she moved one of her arms to wrap around lily, using the other hand to continue drawing her picture. "i've texted flynn, she should be coming over soon"
lily did nothing but nod her head, too focused on the fact that she was going to have to say goodbye to the best people in her life. she didn't know if she was ready. she didn't know if she was strong enough to do it.
"hey, i got your text." flynn said as she knocked on the door, smiling slightly when she saw lily and julie cuddled up together.
lily smiled slightly at flynn, and julie put the pen lid back on her pen.
"don't come too close, anyone we seem to care about disappears." julie said, making lily nod in agreement.
"yep. and we'd hate to lose you too, flynn. you're too important." lily said with a smile in flynn's direction, making the girl blow a kiss to her.
"you guys can't get rid of me. i'm like the crazy glue of best friends." flynn said, looking at both of her best friends.
julie sighed, and lily grabbed her hand in comfort, making the girl smile. "i just don't get it. right when my life starts to get good. great friends, great band, great family... then bam!"
she help up her drawing that showed her name with an explosion all around it.
"i seriously don't know why all this is happening to you guys, but that's gonna be a great album cover one day." flynn said as she pointed to julie's drawing, making lily crack a smile.
flynn picked up the sweater that julie was wearing earlier and folded it up, putting it back in her moms chest of things that julie now has.
"you don't have to do that." julie said to flynn.
"i know, but i get to check out all your moms cool stuff." flynn replied back, making lily finally sit up next to julie so she could take a peek inside too.
"woah. did you know this was in here?" flynn said, making julie and lily look at the bejewelled sunset curve t-shirt in her hands.
lily furrowed her eyebrows and julie scoffed confusedly. "what the heck?"
"how do you think she got it?" lily asked, just as confused as the other two girls were.
"i...i don't know, but the guys said they didn't know my mom." julie said. "why would they lie?"
"maybe they didn't." flynn said as she stood up. "maybe she knew them! she could be a fan!"
"it's possible. i mean, sunset curve was playing the hollywood club scene around then." lily said, looking from flynn to julie.
"oh my gosh. what if you were right!?" flynn said to julie, making both her and lily look at flynn with creased eyebrows. "julie, what if the guys are connected to your mom? you know, through music or something."
julie looked at flynn doubtfully. "because she bought their t-shirt?"
"think about it. they were the ones who made you wanna play music again. maybe she knew they could help you." flynn said to julie.
"so, you mean to tell me that my mom is somewhere out there planning all this? if she wanted me to play music again why wouldn't she just tell me herself?" julie said to flynn, not believing a word the girl was saying.
"maybe she can't. maybe she has to do it another way. you know, through signs." flynn said as she lifted up the sunset curve shirt. "you've been through these clothes how many times and haven't found this t-shirt? why now. this is another sign! i'm just saying, it's not over guys!"
julie looked over at flynn blankly. "really. signs?"
"julie, we're in a ghost band. it's a crazy world. signs actually seem pretty reasonable in comparison to ghosts." lily said, making flynn point to her in agreement.
"look. guys, you're gonna loose them no matter what. and it sucks. but they helped bring you back to life. now it's your turn to help them. they have to cross over. let them go." flynn said to her best friends, making julie and lily turn to face each other with a subtle nod of their heads.
they had to let them go, even if it hurt them. but you know what people say, right? if you love someone, let them go.

flynn went home not long after that conversation, as she told the girls that it's best they go see the guys alone.
so that's exactly what they did. they took a moment to get themselves together and then they both went down to the studio.
turns out, the boys ended up being just as sad over the situation as the girls were.
reggie was sat on the armchair, sadly strumming random strings on his guitar, luke was sat on the floor, leaning against the couch while staring at the ceiling and alex was laying on the couch, trying to balance his drum stick on his nose.
julie sighed, then looked over at lily with a smirk on her face. lily tilted her head in confusion, but then smiled when she watched julie scare the guys.
"snap out of it!" she yelled, making alex fall off the sofa.
"jheez, i think you broke alex." reggie said, looking over at julie and his sister.
"do you guys wanna cross over or what?" lily said with a small smile as she watched luke help alex back up onto the couch.
"get it together!" julie said as she clapped with each word.
"they're never gonna let us play the orpheum." luke mumbled.
"we're nobody." alex said in agreement to luke.
"we're less than nobody. we have no bodies."reggie added on to alex's point, making luke point to him in agreement and lily threw a cushion at him.
"someone once told me that you don't ask for permission. you book gigs by doing." julie said, making luke chuckle lightly.
"that was me." reggie said with a smirk, making julie, luke and lily all look at him.
"no it wasn't." julie and luke said.
"i wasn't even there when that conversation happened but i just know that it wasn't you who said that reg." lily spoke at the same time as luke and julie.
"yes it was." reggie mumbled dejectedly, making lily huff out a laugh.
"this isn't over. we were brought together for a reason. to help each other." julie said, making lily nod her head at her.
"yeah, but like luke said, people don't just play the orpheum because they want to." alex said, and reggie pointed to him in agreement.
"people don't." lily said with a shrug of her shoulders, "but ghosts do."
