THE NIGHT HAD COME QUICKLY. The group just managed to finish up reenforcing the bus just before the sun set on the horizon. The sky was clear with start that shined brightly and the moon that beams down onto the junkyard, however the ground was blanketed in a light grey fog which made Bella's stomach churn and goosebumps raise on her neck. She was wishing she was still writing her song for Max in the parlour and not out here in the cold.
Bella sits beside Steve, her knees brought up too her chest and her chin laid on top of her knees as she stares out the crack in the metal sheets out into the navy blue sky that was so dark it was almost black and the beautiful stars that where spread unevenly along the sky. She wishes she was a star, floating in space with nothing too worry her.
Lucas was sat on the rough, hiding behind tires that they had placed up there too hide them from Dart when he appears which hasn't happened yet. He was acting as their lookout, Bella objected to the idea at first, no wanting to put her younger brother in danger but Lucas had insisted on it, Bella gave in but made him promise too take it in turns with her. He reluctantly agreed.
"So... you've really fought one of these things before?" Max questions Steve. Bella looks over at her, she knows Max doesn't want to believe any of this and Bella wants it too stay that way, it would be better Max wasn't in danger but it's too late now, the red head had been sucked in by the void and there was no way to escape. Steve turns his head too look at Max as well and nods in response, flipping the lid of the lighter down. "And you're, like, totally 100% sure it wasn't a bear?"
"Shit! Don't be an idiot, okay. It wasn't a bear." Dustin snaps, pacing back and forth, his hands dug into his hoodie pockets. Max raises her eyebrows and gives the curly haired boy a look that says 'excuse me', "Why are you even here if you don't believe us? Go home."
"Geesh. Someone's cranky." Max comments, "Past your bedtime." Bella sighs, standing up and sliding past Dustin and climbing up the ladder, sliding onto the roof and looking over at the barren landscape before at Lucas who heard her climbing the ladder and frowns in confusion.
