Isabella Sinclair is exhausted. Not only is high school kicking her ass with the mountains of homework and work she doesn't understand, she also has her home life to deal with, bundles and bundles of trauma and her very personal dating life.

Ever since she moved up into high school, a lot has changed. It feels like she's putting on a show half the time for everyone around her. She's been grouped in with the pretty girls, even though they all hate her. Being in the older school has changed her perspective of life, boys look at her different, stare at her, objectify her. It's annoying and hurtful, and the only person she can tell is Steve but he doesn't quite understand. He chose popularity for himself, Isabella did not.

She was never popular in her old school, why would she be now? She gets high grades, dresses like a homeless person, doesn't wear makeup, doesn't do her hair, and is constantly getting in trouble for either stinking of drugs, alcohol or falling asleep in class.

A few boys have asked her out, and she'd shot them down.

They all thought she was holding out for someone else, someone better then them, but little did they know, she was pining over a red head, her bestfriend.

During all the time that has passed since The Tragedy of Starcourt Mall, Max and Bella shifted apart. Isabella had a lot on her plate and so did Max. Max's parents were getting a divorce, Billy's death taking a great toll on the already toxic and abusive relationship they'd formulated. This meant, Billy's dad was returning to California and Max and her mother were left to fend for themselves. Not only this, Max was still mourning the loss of her brother and Eleven. And whilst this was going for Max, Isabella's home life was a wreck. She barely spent a night in her own bed anymore, constantly arguing and shouting with her parents, scaring Erica when she smashed her fist through a wall, smashed paintings, pictures, and more. Her mother was the root of these problems, blaming Bella for every little thing, hating her for being who she is.
