chapter xxiv.
daisy bells
GRACE, Steve, Dustin, Penny and Robin had spent all day switching between translating the Russian and scooping ice creams for the customers and by 9pm, they had worked a lot of it out. Most words where translated and, so far, it seemed to make no sense. The five stood around in a sort of semi circle, reading out the words in English, "The week is long, the silver cat feeds, when blue meets yellow in the west."
Penny and Robin shared a confusion glance, looking between each other and then back at the board. Steve sighs, "Come on, let's go." He grabs his bag and passes Grace hers, Robin grabs the keys too lock up the shop, whilst Dustin and Penny turn all of the lights off. Steve pulls the barrier down and locks it in its place, "I mean, it just... it just can't be right."
"It's right." Robin insists, arguing that her translating is correct. Penny walks beside her as Grace stands beside Steve, waiting for him to finish locking up. Dustin trails somewhere in the middle.
"Honestly, I think it's great news." Dustin cuts in, trying to keep the hope alive in the dark shopping mall. The Starcourt mall when it was void of any life was boring and old, the lights where set too dim and nothing worked.
"How is this great news?" Grace yells, throwing her arms out in confusion as Steve climbs too his feet and the two run after the trio, joining them. "I mean, so much for being American Heroes."
"It's total nonsense." Steve adds, rolling his eyes.
"It's not nonsense." Penny mutters, looking at her feet as she walks, "It's too specific. It must be code."
"What do you mean, a code?" The Harrington scoffs, confused.
"Like a super secret spy code." Dustin elaborates for Steve.
"That's a total stretch." Grace shakes her head, denying it.
"I don't know, is it?" Robin asks, looking around. Penny looks up at her, wondering what she has too say.
