They continuously stood on the banks of the lake, watching and waiting. Isabella only grew more and more anxious the longer Steve was down under the water, they're out in the open, visible by anyone.
"Come on, Steve, come on." Dustin whispered to himself as they started to close in on a minute he was under.
Belly held Max's hand as they waited in the pitch black for them to return, or give them information. They had no where to go, none drive, they're not walking anywhere any time soon, so all they can do it just... watch, from a safe distance. It was when a torch shone a beam through the trees that Belly felt a shiver travel down her spine, "Down by the water!"
"Shit, down!" Dustin whisper yelled, tugging them all down behind a log.
"It was on this shoreline." And officer yelled through the trees, Isabella gripped Max's hand tighter, fear travelling around her chest.
"Dustin, you're a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate--" Robin yelled through the walkie.
Isabella's eyes widened, Dustin scrambled to grab it and switch it off. They look back up the hill here the cops look grounds searching the area. Belly dropped back down behind the log, "Shit." She gasps, looking back over the top.
"We can't let 'em find Eddie." Lucas whispers.
"Stay with me." Max said, and gave Bella no time to object before she stood up, "Hey, officers! Over here! I found the killer! This way!" Max tugs Belly up off her feet, the others getting up, and forcefully pulling her as they run through the woods, along the banks. The officers yell and chase them as they run. Isabella forgets how fast she is, her long legs giving her an advantage on her friends, and the fact she's outran the police a few times now, it's grown easier every time because Powell and his deputy aren't all that fast on foot.
However, Dustin's the one that gets them caught when he trips over a root and comes crashing down, forcing them to turn and help him. And, as they turn, to their defeat, Sheriff Powell picks Henderson up with a sigh of anger. "Hey, there." He huffs.
