SUMMER IN HAWKINS WAS ALWAYS HOT, too hot for most people's likings. The temperatures went up and car windows went down, the drinks were served with ice and colder, the smaller clothes where pulled out and everyone always seemed happier. The heat was the worst part, there was no cool breeze from 10am to 5pm, it was just hot all the time and your clothes stuck to your skin and you skin stuck together. It was sticky and just annoying but the nighttime was always just right, there was no blazing sun, there was a lovely breeze just cool enough to not make you cold and not make you hot and you could lay in bed in your pyjamas with the window cracked open and a thin sheet and just be right.
Now, Bella loved the summer, she liked not being at school and spending more time at the parlour with Grace, working on songs and wearing smaller clothing. But this time around, summer of '85 was not the best. Grace was always busy with Steve, either on dates or out at a party for graduation but now near the end of summer, the two had gotten a job at scoops ahoy in the new starcourt mall. Bubblegum skies had crashed and burned into debt so Grace left it and moved into the mall and decided to get a job and not work for herself, Bella was devastated by this and the change was startling too the girl.
She had to find a new place to practise and have new gigs, luckily for her, Enzo's the top spot for dates was hiring, Bella had too learn multiple new songs and work out how to play romantic piano too work there. But she got the job and the manager took some tips off of her for the restaurant, Bella worked weekends and had a good salary of $60 dollars an hour which she thought was really good, she worked nights most of the time. 6pm till 10pm when all the dates would happen.
Of course, Bella spent the rest of her time hanging out with her friends, mostly Max, the two girls had many sleepovers and shopping sprees at the mall. They spent most of their time at Bella's house to Max could be nearer Lucas, Bella hated this as Max would sneak off in the night and go too see Lucas in his room. It was there time and Lucas was just getting in the way.
Now, Bella was extremely happy for her friends, they were all in some type of relationship. Max was dating Lucas, they made it official after Christmas break. Eleven and Mike had made their relationship official in March sometime around Will's birthday on the 22nd, Bella was terrified for Eleven but chickened out every time she wanted too tell the oblivious girl what kind of guy Mike was. Mike still attempted too talk with Bella, get close and touch her arm or something, she refused and would not stay in the same room with him alone anymore.
