the russians
"Erica, do you copy?" Robin spoke through the walkie-talkie that Erica had attached to her bag. Grace paced nervously tapped her leg up and down, biting her nails down to nothing, out of fear. How are they supposed to explain to the police, if they're called, that they sent a child into the air vents to spy on fucking Russians? Every disaster is racing through her mind.
"Mmm-hmm, I copy. You nerds in position or what?" She responded, climbing up the ladder to get into the air ducts.
"Yeah, we're in position." They're positioned on top of the roof opposite the weaponry, where they'd been a few nights ago during the torrential rain, "It's all quiet here, so you've got the green light." Robin bites on her bottom lip, glancing at Penny. This is it. They're doing this.
Erica nods firmly, "Green light, roger that. Commence Operation Child Endangerment." She's not really wrong though.
"Can we maybe not call it that?" Robin asked, sighing out.
"See you on the other side. Nerds." It felt like a lifetime that they were waiting for the go-ahead that Erica had reached the correct opening. Grace only grew more and more nervous, Steve picked up on it and took her hand into his. He looked at her with a kind expression, squeezing her hand. Everything will be alright. That's what he told her with his eyes, before leaning down and pressing a long and lasting kiss to her forehead, incase it wasn't alright. Grace just shut her eyes, accepting it, sighing out and let her nerves calm.
Penny and Robin glanced at them, feeling envious and jealous. Dustin wasn't paying any attention, so Penny took her girlfriends hand, and squeezed it, pressing a kiss to her cheek, "It'll be okay." She whispered, holding Robin's hand tightly before laying her head onto her shoulder.
Grace pressed her forehead against Steve's, letting out a gentle breath, running her thumb along his jaw, "Do you think the others are okay?" The Livley girl questions quietly, eyes shut.
"Yeah, they're probably at home or something. I'm sure Bella's reading Max comics or something." Harrington laughed, breaking apart from her, "Those girls are the bane of my existence. They're so hectic, but so adorable together. Isabella got herself a good one, I'm not going to lie." Grace just pursed her lips with a nod, if only he knew what Max really meant to Bella. If he knew that Isabella has created a whole life for them in the future, then Steve would understand so much more. He would either adore them so much more or hate them so much more. Grace didn't know, she felt like Steve was accept it, question it, but overall accept it. He's open to a lot of things, although his parents prejudices and views still do stick in his mind, despite the fact he's trying to work past it.
