(Kate's POV)
We are currently on the subway, and Ashton will not shut up. He has started talking about art to a middle age woman in the seat next to me.
"I feel like Van Goh has a very distinct taste." Ash tells the lady. She nods in return.
"Why don't you Van go away." I whisper small, my voice projected at the floor. Luke laughs next to me, so I figure he picked up the joke. I guess Ashton did too because he gives me the look of death. Me and Luke ignore the two art enthusiasts and start to talk.
"How have you been?"
"Besides well.... You know... I'm good. Me and Rachel are doing fantastic. I'm just afraid of what her father will think of me." I look at Luke as he's talking and I notice he is wearing a lip ring. No wonder he's afraid.
"Yeah." I turn my head and look out the window, taking in the view of the afternoon city. The lights of skyscrapers fill my eyes and tall buildings seem to brush the sky, making me seem so small. Dusk seems to have begun to fall, spreading traces of orange, pink and subtle golden shades across the sky. My eyes slowly drift shut, having the beautiful colors fade to black.
"I think this is our stop sleepy head." I feel a light tap on my shoulder as Luke points to the sign glowing above them as we slowly pull into the subway station. I nod and smile, but honestly I feel as if I am drowning in sadness, failing to stay afloat.
The whole ride there my legs bounce in nervousness. I have not been to Michael's house in four days, which seems like forever. The house is like it was, huge and white, lined with bushes and various flowers. Ashton must know I am nervous because he holds my hand. No, not in the boyfriend girlfriend way, in the friend way.
"He will remember." He finally whispers, and it's like he can read my mind.
"No he won't."
"Trust me. Love can cure anything." He gives me a lighthearted smile and I give him a slight nod, gripping his hand tighter. We finally arrive at his front door, being as quiet as possible. It is just us, considering Michael's dad has lived at the hospital for the past day and well his mom is... I interrupt my thoughts with another grim one.
"His mom died on the 24th. That's in a few days." I pray no one can hear me.
"I know." Ashton replies. Shit. Someone did hear me. Ashton gives me a hug while Luke gives me a wtf look. Eventually we find the courage to go up in his room, and I wish I didn't. My hands slowly grip around the handle, pulling the door open. His room is messy, papers everywhere, an open photo album and the worst of all, a shattered guitar. I slowly walk over and sit on the bed. My hands feel the soft sheets, the same ones that I would cuddle with him in. Finally I think of us, on this bed. It seemed like the world consisted only of us, and with that thought, I finally start balling. Warm tears stream from my cheeks as the memories come back, hitting me so hard in the chest it hurts to breathe. Ash and Luke sit still at my side, rubbing my back.
"Music was his escape. And now it's gone. God, it's all my fault." I sob.
"No it's not."
"Yes it is! If Danny would have just let me be!" I scream, and then I remember... They don't know about him.
"Danny?"
"Long story."
"We've got time." Ashton nods. After twenty minutes of tissues and explanations, they now know everything.
"I... I had no clue." Luke speaks under his breath. No one ever does. After a long silence, I finally speak up.
"I think I might go home guys. Try and sleep off the pain. I will visit Michael tomorrow." Even saying his name hurts... So much. They both nod, not objecting to my only wish right now. I slowly close the door behind me and begin to walk down the sidewalk. My converse scuff against the ground, making black marks where I step. My hands stay curled in my pockets, and my shirt ruffles in the soft wind. The sun shines bright in the sky as I walk down this road, the same road where I would run to Michael when I was scared or just needed him. I need him now. My fingers fumble with my keys, trying to get into my house. After multiple tries, finally one key clicks and I enter the dark house. I run upstairs as fast as possible and jump on my bed. I lay alone on my pillow, but all I can see is Michael laying next to me. I would stay in his arms, holding him tight, but now I have nothing. I fight the urge to cry anymore, considering that's what I have been doing all day, but I still can't face the fact that he will never be mine again. Goodbye to all the happiness. Goodbye to the only one who made me feel any worth. Goodbye Michael.

(Michael's POV)
The food here sucks. It's like I'm eating lifeless mush all day, everyday. Where is the fucking pizza? Or some kind of sugar? Seriously. I look around the drab room, only to see someone walking up to me. Her hair is a golden blonde, and her brown eyes sparkle under the lights. Her body is curved into a beautiful shape, and she seems as if she isn't from this world. I snap back to reality as she begins to speak.
"Mind if I sit down?" I nod, not taking my eyes off of her.
"Why did you come to meet me?"
"Just wanted to see how you were doing." She flashes me a smile and I melt. She is so perfect and... Hot.
"Who... Who are you?" I stutter.
"I'm Penny."
