(Luke's POV)

Battle wounds cover my suit, the aches from the impact only starting to take a toll. My breaths are heavy and consistent, but my mind is more focused on the task at hand. My hand grips the metal tightly, the cool sensation feeling good on my shaky hands. Screams from all around me engulf my ears, making my horror even worse. After a few moments, everything goes quiet. Too quiet. I take a breath, now knowing that this is my only chance at survival. My feet place firmly on the ground as I get into a crouching position. I count down from three, and at one, I take one last breath. In a quick motion, I get up from safety and sprint across the field. I only get 20 feet out before I get a blow right to the forhead. My world seems to spin, going from looking straight ahead up to the sky. The clouds are fluffy and white in the afternoon atmosphere, but are shortly blocked by two smirking brunettes.

"We win!" A familiar voice chants. The two give each other a high five, then reach down for my hand. I grip theirs firmly, and they pull me up with ease.

"Hey, I put up a pretty good fight." I retort, brushing myself off.

"Yeah. Not your fault you have long ass legs and can be seen from a mile away considering you're like 6 foot 50." Kate giggles, giving me a friendly shove.

We walk back to headquarters, our black suits filled with a colorful array of paint splatters. Kate trails ahead, while me and Ash stay toward the back.

"Dude you know you're gonna have to tell her sometime."

"Michael is, not me. He got himself into it, he has to get himself out. For now, Kate is fine with what she believes." I reply to Ashton, making myself clear.

"She won't be after Michael tells her the truth."

"I know." I mumble, knowing how hurt Kate will seem. She looks so happy up front, like she has no care in the world. It's sad to say that feeling won't last her long.

(Kate POV)

Today has been amazing so far, and the concert tonight with just me and Luke will be the icing on the cake. After we turned in our suits from paintball and payed the lady, we decided to go out for ice cream, considering it was paid for by Luke because he lost the bet since he was determined to "kick our sorry asses".

Ashton's car radio blasted all different types of songs, ranging from The Ramones to Katy Perry. I had to giggle when I kissed a girl  came on, blasting all through the crappy stereo system.

"I KISSED A SQUIRREL AND I LIKED IT. THE TASTE OF IT'S PEANUT CHAPSTICK."

"Dude one time I was walking in the park and I heard this dude call a squirrel a squigga." Luke stated. I gave him a smack on the shoulder, earning a squeal from him.

"LUKE! You should never use that word! It's rude."

"But it's a squirrel." He scoffed.

"Don't care you rude son of a bitch."

"HEY! MY MOM IS AN AMAZING WOMAN."

"Momma's boy." Ashton mumbled right before getting smacked by Luke.

"HEY!"

"You deserved that Ash." I laugh, settling back into the back seat.

'

We finally arrive at the ice cream shop, or so I thought.

"Ash, this is the frozen yogurt shop."

"And?" He questions, putting the car into park.

"I wanted ice cream."

"But froyo is healthier." Ashton complains. He is always going on these health sprees, with me and Luke getting the shit end of the stick. The only props to his heath crazes is that he bags up all of his junk food and gives it to me and Luke, but then comes to our door at three in the morning crying about missing his nutella.
