(Kate POV)

Bounce. Bounce. The red sphere of rubber keeps my mind occupied, away from all of the terrible thoughts that still linger throughout my mind in a haze of emotions. I twist my head around to the calendar on the wall, now filled with red x's and one single circle on today's date. Today is the day I am finally getting released from this awful place after three months. One of my doctors, Dr. Alison opens the door to my room, a fake smile permanently stitched onto her face.

"Are you excited about today Kate?"

"You bet." I sigh, hauling my suitcase closer to the door.

"Well you deserve freedom. Just remember, I will always be here okay? Call me if you are feeling suicidal and I will help you through this." She puts her gentle hand on my shoulder, giving me her sympathy and support.

"I will. Thank you Dr. Alison."

We don't speak much more, considering it is clear to both of us that I'm antsy to get out of the building. She informs me that a tall blonde is outside waiting for me, and instantly I rush to the front doors. My nose presses hard against the glass as I exhale, my hot breath fogging up the clear surface. A lanky boy catches my eye, leaning against a new black car with a snapback and a loose white shirt. He seems to look so much older, but I can understand why considering I haven't seen him in three long months.

My arms push open the door as fast as I can, dropping my luggage on the way. It seems like only an instant until I am in Luke's arms. His strong grip keeps me in his grasp, a huge smile present on his face. Suddenly he seems to almost lift me up, and smashes his lips into mine. I am a bit shocked at the gesture, but I was so happy to see him I could care less. I smile into the kiss as his warm, soft lips meet mine, practically moaning at how good it felt to have someone's lips on mine again. Luke must have thought the same thing because as soon as I thought it, Luke ended up doing it. I giggled at the noise and pulled away from the kiss.

"I guess I didn't realize how much I missed you." he chuckles, placing me on level ground again. I nod in agreement as I slip into his brand new car.

"Don't touch anything sweetheart. This is my baby and I paid big bucks for her."

"So I guess no eating in the car?"

"You got that right." He laughs, starting up the vehicle.

"But I'm hungry!"

"Of course you are. Don't worry, we are meeting Ash for lunch."

"And what about Michael? Is he busy today?" I was actually hoping for Michael to meet me at the center today, not Luke.

"Kate. You see, Michael left."

"As in like moved or in dead?"

"He moved." Luke's voice goes small, as if he doesn't want to admit it.

"How could he?"

"Kate, Michael did this to protect you. He knew he was going to hurt you, so he left that day at the hospital before you were awake." The memory seems vaguely familiar until it hits me. I had a dream that day of Michael telling me how he would leave me to save me. Apparently they weren't dreams at all. He was actually there speaking to me.

(Luke's POV)

"But Luke I need him here with me now! Where did he say he was going?" She sobs, her eyes now full of tears. I want so badly to tell her, but I promised Michael I wouldn't.

"I... I don't know." I lie.

"Then I will just call him."

I take out a phone from my back pocket and hand it to Kate.
