"This day was awesome!" Michael yells, plopping back onto his bed, now in his hospital clothes.
"Yeah. I'd agree Clifford." I slump on the bed next to him, and I cannot help but look at Michael again, those deep green eyes mesmerizing my own. My head starts to lean in, my mind clouded with thoughts of kissing him. I could actually do it.
"Kate." My eyes fly open as Michael quickly pulls back, suddenly aware of the situation.
"I like you as a friend and everything, but I... I like someone else." My heart shatters once again as I try desperately to hold back tears beginning to form.
"W...who?" My voice shakes.
"I don't really want to tell you Kate. I'm sorry."
"Oh. I'm... Im gonna go." Tears well up in my eyes, as well as anger at the fact he won't tell me who this "girl" is. Slowly, I walk towards the door, and as I look at him, I see everything. Every moment of us. From the concert, to the first time he ran into me. He was so perfect for me, that I thought it was to good to be true. He would always keep me strong and happy, safe and secure. Everything we ever had means nothing to him, but everything for me. I couldn't loose him. But sometimes if you love something, you have to let it go.
"Goodbye Michael."
-
Who is she? Michael has only been in the hospital for a few days! How could he like someone that quickly? But then I think back to us. He fell for me quickly too. My stomach churns as I think of him with someone else, calling her beautiful, making her feel important. I used to feel that way, and now it's gone.
The wind flies through my hair as I drive through the countryside, noticing all the pretty orchards and farms cast off in the distance. My speakers blaze All Time Low, the sound of guitars and drums seeming to drown out my thoughts of him. When I finally arrive home, I take no time to toss my jacket on the floor of my room and flop down on my bed, curling into a bundle of tears. I attempt once again to forget the past events, and call Penny.
"Hey Kate!" Her voice perks up through the line.
"Hey."
"What's the matter?"
"Me and Michael are done." My voice has a small crack in it as I speak.
"Oh my god Kate. I'm so sorry. Did you wanna do something to get your mind off of him?"
"That's what I called you for." I sigh.
"Good idea. Meet me outside your house, in something sexy. No if, ands or buts about it!"
"Okay." I give a slight giggle before hanging up the phone.
I excitedly walk to my closet, now with a new boost of confidence. I'm gonna have fun, I'm gonna meet a boy, I'm gonna forget about Michael. My hands shakily flip through the racks until I land on one of my favorite red dresses. As I tug the smooth cherry fabric over my body, my confidence rises. The dress fits my curves perfectly, giving me shape. My eyes outline in black lines, and my lips are a plump shade of ruby red, matching my dress quite well. I slip on some red pumps to complete the look, just in time.
-
"Ready Kate?" Penny is wearing a black flowy dress, which looks amazing on her.
"Yep!" I try to say as joyful as possible.
"Okay! Let's go! You look amazing by the way." My lips form a smile as we step out of my doorway, and into her car. As we drive, the music in her vehicle swallows up the silence. Her car windows were down, allowing the wind to flow through my hair, making my blonde curls whip crazily. My nails wrap against the dashboard, making a beat with my fingers. Penny keeps her eyes on the rode, not making to much conversation. Time seems to go fast, and before I realize it, we're here. Penny slowly steps out of the drivers side, with me following closely behind.
-
The club is crazy. A hot mess of people dance in the pit, the sweaty bodies grinding and dancing against each other. Penny is already lost in the pit, while I go somewhere to forget - the bar. Yeah, I'm underage, but this club doesn't mind, and at this moment I need something.
"What can I help you with?" An attractive young male is currently cleaning a glass in his hand.
"Anything to help with a bad breakup."
"So the strong stuff?" He laughs.
"You know it." The man turns around, mixing up some concoction. My eyes wander over to the boy sitting a few chairs down. It's Luke.
"Yo! Lucas!" His eyes quickly dart around, looking for the cause of the noise. His eyes lock with mine and he smiles, in which I return. Luke carefully grabs his drink and walks over to me.
"What's up Kate?"
"You don't wanna know." The man hands me a drink and I mumble a thanks, while sipping the red-clear liquid. Woah. It is really strong.
"Michael?"
"Yep."
"What about you Luke? You seem more like a lost puppy than a hardcore drinker."
"It's... Rachel. She kinda... Broke up with me." His eyes seem hurt, and I realise he really did love her. God, I know that feeling way to well. Silence grows and it seems like in no time, I down my first drink and ask for another.
"I'm so sorry. If it helps, I know how you feel. The one I love likes someone else."
"Ouch. I'm sorry Kate." His hands are currently wrapped around his drink, his finger tapping a beat on the crystal. I don't know why, but I find his fingers particularly attractive as they curve around the clear liquor glass.
"Hey, you wanna um... Like go dance?" His toungue plays with the tip of his lip ring, and I find myself gazing at the shiny metal.
"Sure." I take his hand in mine, and he twirls me around, making me dizzy. We slide out onto the dance floor, quickly becoming familiar with the bodies dancing around me. For a guy who looks like a stick bug, he can sure dance. Luke seems to fit in perfectly with all the bodies dancing beside him. His hands motion me forward to him, telling me to come closer. I abide, taking a few steps closer. As he entwines his hand in mine, a feel a little something, but still not the same spark as Michael. He starts dancing again, this time pulling me closer into him. I can tell my vision is starting to get a little hazy, and Penny is nowhere to be found, but I'm enjoying myself... For the most part. I just can't quite shake Michael from my mind yet.
"You seem tense! Loosen up Kate!" Luke yells over the music. The beat takes a shift, and our dancing heats up upon his request. I pull him in closer to me and start doing something with my hips... Wait am I grinding on him?! The alcohol must have kicked in as of right now because I don't know what I'm doing, but he seems to be enjoying himself, considering my eyes notice the considerable bulge in his really skinny skinny jeans.
"Um..." I mumble, looking down. He looks back at me with a light laugh and rosy cheeks.
"I will be right back." Luke runs through the crowd, trying to cover up his little "excitement". My eyes move to the people around me, taking in everything. I spot Penny and some other guy dancing, rather suggestively I might add.
"I'm back." A familiar voice whispers into my ear, his lips barely touching the skin. The tone is almost seductive, making my heart race.
"Okay." I giggle once again as he places his hands on my hips, making me jump.
"Hey, it's okay." He gives me a smirk and my arms stretch up and around his neck, making his grin grow even more. Before I know it, Luke leans down and places a kiss on my shoulder blade, which quickly heats up as he begins to suck hard with a little nip, causing me to yelp, but also giving me a euphoric feeling. He grazes his tongue lightly over the fresh mark, trying to soothe the pain.
"It's okay baby, shh." Luke whispers into my ear. I'm confused as to why he called me baby, but the thought subsides as I focus on his golden quiffed hair and piercing baby blue eyes. Without the need to think, my hands go from his neck to his hair, and I grip the blonde locks tightly, earning a small groan from him.
"Paybacks a bitch Hemmings."
"Oh that isn't payback." He slowly licks his lips, keeping his eyes on mine the whole time, even though I can't keep focus on him because of all the alcohol raging through my system.
"Then what is?"
As an answer, he crashes his lips into mine. At first I'm a little leary of him, considering Michael was my boyfriend for how long, but soon I forget about everything as the kiss grows hungrier. His fingers twirl around a strand of my curly hair, giving it a slight pull. I gasp, giving his tongue entrance, in which he takes advantage of. Luke's hands stay on my hip and all I can taste is strawberries, liquor, and a hint of metal from his lip ring. He continues to kiss me, until I am forced to take breath.
"Hey there is um.. A room if you know...wanna" His eyes seem glossy and his breath has picked up it's pace, but at this point my mind is focused on him, and only him. He wears a flannel shirt and skinny jeans, which are the death of any girl. Before I answer, my mind can't help but pause, considering Michael just broke up with me a few hours ago. His hand snakes his way around my waist and starts rubbing on the skin under my shirt, making my mind change ideas.
"Yeah. Sure."
"Are you okay with this? I don't want to take advantage of you." He looks a bit more serious now, but he still has a slight slur to his words.
"Yes, Luke, okay? It's not like we're gonna remember this tomorrow." I laugh, my face now only inches from his.
"Okay." He mumbles, still unsure. My mouth moves to his, and he quickly reacts by placing a hand on my hip, but slowly moving downwards to under my dress. Before things go any further, he is pulling me through the crowd, his long legs running faster than I can keep up with. Quickly, we arrive at the room and he closes the door behind us, proceeding to push me up against it. He kisses me even more hungrily than before, and I run my fingers through his quiffed hair once again, pulling harder, causing and even louder moan than before. I give Luke a smirk, toying at the buttons of his flannel.
"Just take it off sweetheart." He whispers into my ear. My hands fumble with the fabric, but finally tug it off, leaving just his bare chest and skinny jeans.
"God you're hot." I whisper into his ear, making him bite his lip hard. His eyes seem to go dark, and before I have time to remove anything else, he lifts me up and slowly lowers me onto the couch. I decide to not let another boy overthrow me, so I get up and straddle him, causing his breath to hitch. Part of my mind tells me to stop, but the alcohol is coursing through my veins, telling me that all I want right now is Luke.
