Song - For The First Time - Mac DeMarco

We drive Nancy home and I decide to go home with Jonathan just for the heck of it. After our discovery today I don't exactly want to go home and be in my dark empty house while my parents are gone.

We enter the house and I see Jonathan tense up and when I enter the house I can see why. His mom is snuggled up and awfully close with a dude. He kind of looks like Jonathan and I assume it's his dad.

"Hey, kid." The man speaks up.

"What's going on." Jonathan is angry I can tell.

"That your girlfriend kid?" The man speaks up and I am too infatuated with the drama to even really process the words and answer. I can tell though Jonathan is completely ignoring the man's words.

"Your dads uh gonna stay here tonight. On the couch." My theory is proven by his mother's words.

"Yeah, I'm here as long as you need me, okay. How are you holding up?"

Once again Jonathan ignores his father's words and stomps over to the tarp-covered wall pulling the tarp back. What's revealed is a giant hole in the wall going all the way through the wall to the outside.

"What happened?" He asks.

"Don't worry about that." His father speaks again and I glare at him.

"Mom? That thing you saw before did it come back?"

"Jonathan that's enough."

"Mom, can we talk? Alone?" Jonathan asks his mom but instead, his dad gets up and pulls Jonathan into another room and I stay with Joyce.

"Hey, Joyce. I know your head is in all different spots right now and you're having a hard time but I'm serious. I believe you. I believe that thing isn't your son and I believe that a monster came out of your walls. Don't let that son of a bitch come into your life after he left you the first time and mess you up. Stand your ground, Joyce. It could be what saves your son. I'm not a mom but I know that a mother's intuition is strong and you need to keep yours instead of pushing it down. Okay?"

Joyce's eyes are wide and she looks like you were just speaking Russian to her but she nods strongly and fast.

After his little talk with his father Jonathan drives me home and tells me that the funeral for Will is tomorrow at 10. I nod and tell him that I'll be there before he drives away.

When I wake up in the morning I am instantly filled with dread and sadness. It's just a sad day. Even though I firmly believe that will is probably alive I am still sad to have to go to his possible real funeral.

I get ready which isn't very hard seeming as the dress code, as gloomy as it is, is easy-peasy.

I stand behind Jonathan as I listen to the pastor talk and talk. I can't even really pay attention to what he's saying because all I'm thinking about is Will and Barbara.

When it's over and everyone throws their flowers on top of the casket I notice Joyce staring out into space and I walk over to her. I pat her on the shoulder and very quietly whisper to her.

"Be strong Joyce."

Then I leave and meet up with Jonathan and Nancy in front of one of the fences at the cemetery. Jonathan holds a map of Hawkins with him.

"So we know for sure this is where it's been."

"So, that's Steve's house." Nancy points and nods at Jonathan's words. "That's the woods where they found Will's bike and that's my house." Jonathan points to two other x's on the map.
