Chapter 16

A few weeks later, it was finally time to head to Tennessee. I was officially 5 weeks pregnant and you could sort of start to see a little bump coming in, but if you didn't know there was no way you would be able to tell. The doctor said that the baby was perfectly healthy, which was definitely a relief for Jaden and I.

"Jaden, how far of a drive is it to your parents house?" I asked, praying for a short drive.

"I think it's like two hours," Jaden started. "It could be a lot worse."

"How are we getting there?" I asked. "Uber is going to be super expensive for that far."

"Well I don't think that's really a problem," Jaden scoffed. "I'll pay for it."

"Jaden, I think that we should stop spending money every chance that we get. We do have a baby on the way and kids are expensive."

"I know, baby. I just don't think that we have to worry about getting an Uber. It's not like we're buying sports cars or anything. An Uber isn't even going to make a dent, trust me."

"I know, but I think that we do need to start saving money. I don't know how long TikTok is going to last for and if we-"

"Evie, stop worrying about it. If TikTok shut down right now, we would both be perfectly fine. There is still every other social media platform and my music is going to be a huge source of income. We are going to be perfectly fine for the rest of our lives, I promise," He said as he wrapped me into a hug.

"So when do you want to leave?" I asked as I broke away from the hug.

"As soon as you're ready," Jaden smiled.

"I'm ready," I laughed.

"Then let's go," He said as we walked out of the room.

We ended up taking an Uber all the way to Chattanooga where Jaden's parents live. I was really excited to meet his parents and I think Jaden was excited to see them too.

Jaden interlocked his fingers with mine and we started heading up to the door. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest as we walked into the house. It was very beautiful and I loved the way that it was decorated.

I immediately noticed Jaden's dad sitting on the couch watching a show. His eyes lit up as soon as he noticed Jaden.

"Hey Dad," Jaden said as he gave him a hug.

"Hey Jaden," He said as he broke the hug.

"I'm Evie," I smiled. "I'm Jaden's girlfriend."

"Yeah, I know who you are. I'm John," He started. "Amy is on her way here, I'm sure that she'll be shocked to see you guys."

"Has she told you everything?" Jaden asked. I was really hoping that he already knew I was pregnant because I didn't want to have to go through the awkwardness of telling him.

"Yeah, I know that she's pregnant," John stated.

"And?" Jaden said. He really wanted to know how his dad felt and John wasn't giving any clues.

"And I think that you're old enough to make your own decisions, Jaden. If she makes you happy then I could never be mad. I don't care what you have to do as long as you are happy in the end," John said with a slight smile.

"Thank you," Jaden smiled. "It really means a lot to me that you said that."

"Well, let's lighten the mood a little bit!" John chuckled. "What are you going to name that kid?"

It was a good question and I had actually put a lot of thought into it. I don't know if Jaden realizes it, but I've been coming up with baby names since I was in elementary school. "We haven't really talked about it," Jaden stated.

"Well why don't I give you some input?" The last thing I wanted was input from Jaden's dad. "If it's a boy, the middle name can be John."

I actually wasn't totally against the idea of naming my son after him, but I was definitely going to have to talk it over with Jaden before I made any promises. "We'll see. I think we should see if it's a girl or a boy before we start picking names."

"We'll definitely keep it in mind though," Jaden smiled.

"I just finished making some chicken pot pie," John smiled as he walked into the kitchen. "Are you guys hungry?"

"It smells amazing," I said with a slight smile.

"I'll take some," Jaden said as he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind me.

"Perfect, I'll get you-" He was immediately interrupted by the front door opening. "That's probably your mom."

And of course it was. Amy wandered into the kitchen and she was definitely caught off guard when she saw Jaden and I. She ran over to Jaden, gave him a hug, and then did the same to me. "This is so exciting! I am so glad I can finally meet you in person, Evie!"

"I'm glad that we came," I grinned.
