"He'll be here in five."

Ashton's P.O.V

"Why the fuck was she still here?" I asked Calum as I took a seat. Michael had just walked Ronnie to the door.

"Dude, she's actually really cool."

"Ronnie & cool in the same sentence? Did you just say that, Cal?"

Luke was afraid to say anything. He knew I was pissed. Michael walked back in & took his seat. I just starred at him, I was pissed. Ronnie was supposed to be well gone by the time I had arrived & then here she was hanging out with my friends? This wasn't okay.

"Dude. Lighten up." Michael let out a laugh. "Seriously, chill. We were all just talking. She's pretty cool."

"So I've heard." I clenched my jaw. "Can we just fucking practice already?"

"Sure." Luke finally spoke up. "Yea, let's just do music."

The entire time we practiced, Michael continually brought up Ronnie.

He told me about what music she was into, what concerts she has attended, how long she's been playing guitar...all things I didn't give a fuck about.

"Can you just fucking stop bringing up Ronnie? What? Do you want to go date her or something?"

"No." Michael put his hands up in defense. "Ashton, I made a friend. She's a friend. We have a lot in common & I had fun today. That's all. I'm not into her like that."

"You sure don't sound convincing. I swear you talk about her like you want her."

"I don't. But maybe you do?" Michael asked me.

"What the fuck do you mean by that?"

"Maybe you're actually into Ronnie & you're just in denial?"

"What?" I stood up off of my drum stool. "You think I like those stupid blonde curls? You think I like those green eyes or how they have a splash of gold in them if you look close enough? Or her crooked smile? Do you think I like that annoying giggle or that I like how musical she is? Because I don't!" I yelled at my band mates. "I. Don't. Like. Ronnie!"

Calum was silent. Luke was looking away but Michael stayed engaged. This fucker.

"You couldn't fool me."

"Oh shut up Michael."

"I'm just saying, I didn't know her eyes were green with a gold sparkle."

I only knew the gold sparkle from the other week in the hallway at school when she told me to shut my window next time I had a girl over & I called her out for being jealous. Everyone knew Ronnie liked me. When we were seven, Ronnie's mom used to tell my mom how Ronnie thought I was cute. I'm sure that never went away.

Ronnie still liked me.

& I'd never like her.

I walked out of Michael's garage & I grabbed my car keys. I had to go. I couldn't deal with my band's shit right now.

The entire drive home, all I could see were green eyes with gold specks.

Fuck.

Ronnie's P.O.V

At school on Monday, Luke, Michael & Calum all waved to me when they saw me in the morning, Ashton didn't.

Later at lunch, Luke left his table to come sit at mine.

"Hi." He sat across from me. "You're Seth, right?" He asked my best friend.
