"Come on in!"
Ashton's P.O.V
I haven't been inside Ronnie's house since her birthday party when she turned about ten I think. Her parents had invited my family over to help celebrate & my mom made me attend just to be 'neighborly'. But that was the last time I had went to her house & even then, I stood right in the front entry way & I barely went inside he house. I couldn't go inside the house when in my mind, it was still Manny's.
Now here I was, standing at Ronnie's door.
I ran the doorbell & I saw the lights flicker.
Then I remembered the type of doorbell they had, right.
I was expecting Ronnie to open the door but it was her mom.
"Hi." I waved as I saw the door open.
"Ashton. I haven't seen you in so long. Come on in!"
"Thanks. I'm suppose to be studying with Luke."
"They're in the kitchen. Go on in. You remember where that is, right?"
"Yea, thanks."
Of course I remember where it is. That's where Manny & I used to eat ice cream sundaes or pizza at midnight when we'd sneak downstairs at a sleepover.
I walked in to find Luke shaking his head no as Ronnie & Calum were throwing mini-marshmallows into each other's mouths.
At first I thought it was stupid but then Calum threw one that landed right in Ronnie's shirt.
"Oh my god I am so sorry Ronnie!" Calum laughed. "I seriously didn't mean to aim there."
"Right." Ronnie smirked. "I'm sure you didn't." Then she reached into the bag & she grabbed a handful of marshmallows before throwing the entire fist full at Calum.
I couldn't help but crack a smile at that.
"Oh, hey Ashton." Luke finally noticed me standing in the doorway.
"Hi, come on in." Ronnie smiled at me. She smiled at me. No comment about me being in her house or anything, she was being genuine. I mean she smiled. "Excuse me one second..." Ronnie turned around & I could tell she was reaching into her shirt to take out the marshmallow. "Sorry, your friend over here has horrible aim."
"Or great aim, depending on which way you're looking at it." I swear I could see her cheeks flush as I said that but she turned away again to walk to the trash can.
"Did you want anything to eat or drink? Luke was letting us have a break but once we get back to work, he won't let me get up so if you need something, tell me now."
"No, I'm okay. Thanks though." I took up the only open seat at the table & I grabbed my books out of my bag, opening to the pages they were all on.
Luke worked with me for a little bit while Calum & Ronnie tried to work on their own.
I kept zoning out on Luke & listening in to Calum & Ronnie instead.
They were talking music, as always. That's all any of my friends talk about.
"No way!" I heard Calum yell at one point.
"Yes way!"
"That's not fucking fair! How?"
"What's not fair?" I was curious.
"Ronnie has tickets to see Green Day next month!"
"No way!" Luke slammed his pencil down. "Those sold out in ten seconds. How did you manage that?"
