The Audition
Ronnie's P.O.V
It had been a couple weeks since Ashton had been at my house getting tutored for maths. Since then, we haven't talked...like at all. A word has literally not been spoken between us since he left my home.
Now in a way, that's a good thing because we don't bitch at each other anymore but then again, it's almost upsetting because I want to talk to him, even if it isn't the best conversation.
I just missed talking to Ashton.
When he was at my house that night, I saw just a slight glimpse into who he really was & I wanted to be friends with him. I wanted to be friends with that version of Ashton. The guy who makes fun of his friends in a joking way, the one who actually wants to learn how to do a problem, the one would could actually just talk to me.
I hoped he felt the same way about me.
When we saw each other either at school or even once home, sometimes he'd wave or we'd just like give each other a head nod but there were no words spoken between us. It was weird that we were so silent now.
It was like we wanted to talk to each other but we didn't know how to talk without it being rude or an insult.
A couple weeks had passed & that silence was finally broken.
I was sitting at lunch, waiting for Seth, when Ashton walked over with the other three behind him. They then took seats across from me.
"Hi?" I said as they sat.
"Hello." Calum smiled. "How are you today, Ronnie?"
"I'm doing as well as someone can be for it being a stupid Wednesday."
"Are you ready for your audition this weekend?" Ashton then asked. Oh, so that's why he sat by me. He wanted to see if we were ready for Battle of the Bands.
"I believe we are. How's 5sos feeling about it?"
"Pumped!" Michael almost yelled. "We cannot wait! We're singing American Idiot like you apparently suggested. It's sick."
"Michael!" Ashton actually yelled. "Why did you give away what we're singing?"
"It's not like they're gonna steal our song."
I just laughed at them. "No worries, we have something better planned."
"A Bon Jovi song?" Luke asked me.
I shook my head no. "Nope. Something else but unlike Michael over here, I'm not telling. You'll have to see our audition if you want to find out."
"What time is it at?" Ashton asked me. I missed hearing his voice actually.
"I think at 5:00. When is yours?"
"4:00. Come by early & see us!" Calum practically begged. "Please?"
"I don't see why not. Will you stick around to see us too?"
"Of course." Ashton answered right away. "I mean, yea. Uh, we'll stick around to see you I guess. We should go back to our table now. I guess we'll see you at the audition on Saturday."
"See you then." I waved as the boys walked away.
So there was a short conversation & he wasn't rude to me during the entire talk.
This was a change that I could get used to.

On Saturday, my band mates & I drove over to a theatre that was holding the band auditions for the Battle of the Bands. Only ten groups can make it into the actual show & I think there were over twenty-five auditioning so I mean the odds weren't completely out of our favor but when most of the bands were composed of people over the age of twenty, it was a bit nerve-wrecking.
