"But uhm, did you wanna come?"
Ronnie's P.O.V
After I had kissed Ashton, things changed just slightly between us.
This time if he saw me, he'd wave & say hi, but there still wasn't much after that. Why was he so hesitant to just talk to me? I couldn't understand. But I guess I had to take the initiative.
"Hi Ashton." I saw he was sitting outside in his backyard.
"Hi." He smiled as he walked to the fence. "What's up?"
"Nothing too much. I just got home from Seth's."
"Oh, that's fun."
That's how our conversations had been going since the kiss...just short & basic.
"Yea. Uhm so listen, it turns out Seth can't go to the Green Day concert."
"Oh no, why not?"
"They're doing inventory at his work & since he's going for a promotion, he kind of needs to be there. He's been afraid to tell me he can't go so he just sprung it on me now, a day before the concert."
"That sucks. Can you still go with Jimmy & Preston?"
"Yea, for sure. But uhm, did you wanna come?"
"Oh no, I couldn't. I'd feel bad taking Seth's spot."
"He told me to ask you."
"I still feel bad."
"I can ask Michael..." I joked.
"No! Don't! I'll go."
"Okay good. I think it'll be fun."
"I'm sure it will be, thanks so much Ronnie." Ashton was smiling so big. I loved it.
"Yea. So Jimmy & Preston are staying downtown after the concert because they wanna hit the bars & stuff so I'm driving separate since I have work in the afternoon the day after."
"Oh then let me drive."
"It's okay. I can."
"You're inviting me. At least let me drive. I'm sure my mom won't mind."
"Okay, thanks then. I'll text you once I know what time we should leave around. I have to look when doors open still."
"Cool. I don't even have your number though." Ashton laughed & he handed me his phone. "So can I get it?"
"Oh, I guess you're right. I'll put it in for ya."
"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow for the concert then, okay?" Ashton smiled at me again.
"Yep. Definitely. I can't wait."
