"AP/N!" a loud caterwaul called you awake. You jerked up and felt your nose smash into another.

"Ow!" a golden tabby tom jumped backwards and licked his muzzle.

"Lionpaw! What in the name of StarClan are you doing?" you hissed, rubbing your bruised nose.

"Waking you up. Ashfur wants us to train together today." he said.

"Sure." you glanced at Lionpaw before hauling yourself up and shaking sleep out of your fur. "What about Graystripe?"

"He's on the dawn patrol. We'll probably be doing battle moves today. Or stalking!" Lionpaw lashed his tail side to side in happiness.

"It'd be too easy to spot you!" you pressed his tail to the ground to stop it from moving.

Lionpaw dragged himself away quickly. You padded out of the den with him and spotted Lionpaw's mentor near the sandy hollow.

"We'll be battling today." Ashfur flicked his tail to the left.

"I knew it." Lionpaw winked at you. You twitched your whiskers, slightly annoyed.

"Let's just practice pouncing on your enemy. Lionpaw, you go first. Ap/n, I want you to look away. Try to stop him from pinning you down." Ashfur ordered. You nodded and faced away.

You strained your ears for Lionpaw's movement. 

Suddenly, a set of paws latched onto your back. You shook them off roughly and rolled over, hissing as Lionpaw's tail whipped your face. He batted your forehead and kicked your legs. You fell on your stomach as Lionpaw shoved your shoulders down. 

You felt his claws raking your back.

"Lionpaw!" you shrieked. You smelled blood.

Ashfur shoved Lionpaw away as Brambleclaw padded towards you. 

"I-I'm sorry Ap/n." Lionpaw looked horrified at what he did.

"Lionpaw, we keep our claws sheathed during training." Ashfur cuffed his ear.

"I'm disappointed Lionpaw. You seem distracted." Brambleclaw frowned at his son.

"I am. Sorry Ap/n." Lionpaw looked at his paws.

"It's fine." you twisted around to see to deep scratches from your shoulder to your haunches.

"You'd better see Leafpool." Brambleclaw remarked, glancing at the dripping blood.

"Mhm." you walked to the medicine cat den slowly. You felt a tingle on your back but didn't bother to check.

"Ap/n! I knew I smelled blood." Jaypaw poked his head outside and studied your blood.

"Lionpaw scratched me when we were training." you said as Jaypaw chewed herbs.

"Thafts tof bafd." he said, his mouth muffled.

Jaypaw spat the poultice on the moss.

"Your wound is almost healed!" his eyes widened at the scratch. You strained your neck to look around.

The scratches were not bleeding anymore and looked healthy. The fur that was ripped around it was grown back.

"That's weird." you said. 

"No need for herbs then." Jaypaw muttered.

"Where's Leafpool?" you asked.

"Hunting. She says she needs some fresh air." Jaypaw replied quietly. 

You looked into his sightless eyes and saw realization.

"I'm gonna go see Lionpaw." you left and saw your friend by the entrance of the apprentices' den with Hollypaw.
