He wasn't: Chapter Two
When I was a kid, my dad would always tell me, Do not talk to strangers. Do not go with them. And DO NOT step inside their car.
So what I'm thinking right now is... What the hell am I doing here? Right now, I feel that my stomach is beginning to churn.
"You okay? You've been quiet the whole trip." Nate turned to me and smirked.
What was that about. I turned around and looked in a different direction. I noticed Nate's hair was sticking in every direction like he just got out of bed. It looked really good on him and I can't deny the fact that he's really hot. But I can't tell him that. He might find me weird. At last, we reached the grocery store. Nate got out and rushed over to my side and opened the car door.
"Oh, thanks." I said, avoiding eye contact with him. He just stared.
"Sofie, over here!" dad hollered. He was talking to Mrs. Coleman on the counter. They were drinking coffee.
"Hey dad." I waved while Nate followed from behind.
"I see you met someone today." dad raised an eyebrow and led me to the counter where Mrs. Coleman was.
"Why hello, Sofie. It's been a while." Mrs. Coleman gave me a very warm smile. I smiled back not sure what to say back. I mean, it was a really long time when I last talked to her.
"Hi Mrs. Coleman. I'm very sorry about the envelope. Something happened today." I said, trying to explain at my best not to sound that it was a lie. Mrs. Coleman looked like she was on her early 50's. She looked very open, warm and nurturing. I thought of these things while I handed her the envelope I was holding.
"Oh, that's okay. What's important is, you're alright." She reached for the envelope and tapped my shoulder. Dad hurried to my side. I guess he heard that.
"What happened a while back?"
"Her bag fell at the lake. It has her camera and lenses inside," Nate interrupted while leaning on the counter. "She was about to jump then I saw her so..."
"Then he jumped instead and saved my bag.! The end" I finished. Nate looked at me. I looked back and turned away quickly.
"Oh my, good thing Nate was there." Mrs. Coleman's eyes widen. She looked very concerned. I turned to dad as hee looked so bothered. I have no idea if it was because Nate helped me or my expensive camera fell. But either way, he still looked bothered.
"Its alright now. My camera's still working." I assured them but dad just smirked.
"Yeah, with $1500 price like that, that camera really should be very durable. I can't afford to buy a thing like that again." He snorted but I rolled my eyes. "Well, its getting a little late. We better head back. Sofie, go start the car, you're driving tonight."
I frowned but nodded in the end. I started to head out and glanced at the door and saw dad talking to Mrs. Coleman. Seems like he's instructing her what she'd do with that envelope. I see her nodding and starting to read the envelope.
"Hey, wait up!" Nate yelled. I turned back and see him running towards me.
The wind, even for a summer night was cold and blew harder, making some leaves fall from the trees surrounding the grocery store. Leaves rustled and crunched as Nate stepped on them as he approached me.
"What's up?"
"I know a really good place for taking pictures. If you like, I can take you there tomorrow."
"Great! So what time?"
"I'll pick you up at 5."
"Ohh, oka--" Nate cut me off.
