He Wasn't: Chapter Ten
"Hmm," he sighed.
I felt someone's behind us so I glanced over my shoulder and saw Randy giving a very confused expression.
Nate turned around and shrugged. "What?"
"It's nothing," Randy said in a straight face.
My eyes widened as I saw Randy, swift as a ninja pushed Nate off the pier. Nate then fell in the lake. Randy's face lightened up. Their friends laughed and so did Randy. Nate didn't come out yet. He was still under water. Randy stopped laughing and crouched as he yelled at Nate to come up. But there was no response.
My pulse quickened. Was Nate okay? Randy jumped in.
"Nate!" he shouted.
"Oh my gosh, Randy what did you do!" Hannah came running to us.
"I pushed him and then he hasn't come back yet--"
"You sure?"
We all turned around and saw Nate laughing so hard. He was holding a pair of shorts.
He waved the shorts in the air. I heard Randy sweared at Nate but he didn't mind and continued to laugh for like five minutes.
I must admit it was funny. I tried my best not to laugh because it was kinda rude but Randy's expression made it impossible not to laugh.
"Okay Nate, give Randy his shorts back." I said elbowing his arm.
The others agreed and I could hear them say they were hungry. Randy was a good cook so I guess they want him out and cook something for lunch. Nate nodded and threw the shorts at Randy.
"I'm still the best ninja," he declared as he climbed up the pier.
Hannah came closer at us. I could feel her stare saying, you don't belong here. It's kind of depressing, so I just headed back to the tables. As I turn my back at them, I coud hear Hannah say how he got us fooled especially her and how worried she was, blah, blah. I really don't care. I rolled my eyes as I walked a little faster. Somehow I'm a little disappointed at Nate.
I reached the picnic tables and saw Randy barbecuing some chicken and steak. I looked around and noticed most of the people here are couples. They were mostly making out and sitting together.
Maybe going here wasn't such a good idea. I feel really out of place, thanks to Hannah. Randy and I are not even well acquainted yet. Nate's all I got here, and it's been 30 minutes, he hasn't come back with her yet.
"Where's Nathan?"
"I don't know," I said, tracing a circle on the table with my finger. "Somewhere with Hannah,"
"Oh, must be doing something," Randy wondered as he plopped on the wooden bench.
I stopped what I was doing and forced a smile, but I didn't succeed as he noticed I was affected.
"You're not good at faking things,"
"You're the 45th person who ever said that,"
He laughed under his breath and shook his head. "Don't worry, when I said they were doing something, must be Nate's straightening it out now."
"What do you mean?"
"Trust me, you're going to love what he'll say to you after that,"
I chuckled and looked directly at Randy. "You know," I said. "I always thought all you can think about are dirty things,"
