He Wasn't: Chapter Sixteen
I tossed and turned on my bed, relieving the events of today. First was, God permitted that Alyssa Monks would take my painting and display it at her exhibit, and I'm sure when she does that my works would be advertised with different artists. Second was clear that I know what happen today made me realize that what I was thinking was all wrong. Nate realy cared for me and I know we both feel the same so I'm happy.
"So," Megan jumped in my bed and laid beside me. "How does it feel?"
"You have to be more specific. A lot has happened today,"
"How does it feel that Alyssa Monks took one of your paintings?"
I smiled and rolled over, closer to where Meg is and looked at her for a second.
"You do realize," she said. "You look like a retarded smiling seal right now."
"I am!" I shouted as I hugged her. "I'm so happy I think I'm gonna explode!"
"Oh my goodness Sofie Meyer! Calm down!"
I sat up and took a deep breath. "Ok, I'm calm,"
Me and Meg both laughed and talked until 4 AM and not one of us were sleepy, still. Megan proudly ranted out that Charmaine Olivia was very impressed on her works and she kept asking Megan every now and then if she wanted to pose for her new pieces. And of course Megan said yes, and then she continued that she discussed about her dreams with Charmaine Olivia, how she planned her future, this and that, like any other would tell.
While we were still in high school, Megan told me that she really wanted to be a fashion designer like her mom, and open up a new clothing line and such. Unlike me, Megan grew up in a very nice, sophisticated, and loving family. I'm not saying mine is not loving at all--they are but we're all apart from each other so I can't really see the love there. Going back with Megan, she's the youngest and she has 3 brothers, all married and living in a successful life with happy families. Her parents, are still together and very understanding. If someone would ask me if I can describe a perfect family, I think I would say it's Megan's family. There even came a time when I was praying so hard that God should make me be a part of Megan's family. But then I grew up, I became matured and thought I wouldn't be contented if I keep looking for faults on my parents.
"So are you going back to Lexington tomorrow? I mean you do realize that we only got like, two more weeks of summer vacation until it's down hill again for us,"
I just stared at Megan, thinking what to say and what would I do on the remaining days of our summer break.
"Well?" she shrugged.
"What about you? What are you planning to do with your remaining weeks?"
"I'm planning to go home, and you should too,"
I laughed under my breath. "And where is that? You know I have like, two homes to choose from,"
"Come on, you're not stupid. Of course with your dad,"
"I was thinking with mom but then I have to put up with Anthony,"
Megan leaned closer to me and looked me in the eyes. "Sofie, not wanting to be cheesy here but I think, Nathan is the one for you. I know I never met him, but just thinking about all the things he did for you, you should give him another chance, right?"
I sighed, but said nothing.
"Come on, Sof, what do you got to lose?"
"I will," I swallowed. "Go to Lexington tomorrow," I sighed in defeat. Megan hugged me very tight.
