|Michelle's P O V|
Just one more minute, one more minute come on.
*Ring*
Finally, the school day is over. I seriously have not been able to focus on anything all day other than Emily. I can't wait to see her.
I rush out of school, I don't go to my locker, I don't say goodbye to my friends, I just rush right out the doors and hop on the bus to the studio. I'm excited but nervous at the same time, I just can't wait to see Emily. I can feel myself shaking and I can't seem to stay still. Could this bus ride take any longer?
20 minutes later I arrive at The Next Step, I rush through the doors and into the change rooms, I quickly change and run out into the Studio. I stop and look around, great I'm the first one here, what time is it? I look at my phone and the time reads 3:02. Well shit practice doesn't start till 3:30, so I'm way early.
I sit down on the bench, I place my face in my hands and I replay the kiss over and over and over again, each time I replay it in my head I feel my smile growing and my blush reddening.
"Michelle?"
I immediately look up hoping I see Emily, but no, it's just Riley. I sigh,
"Oh hey Riley." I said, it came off as kinda harsh, but I'm just anxious waiting for Emily.
"Why are you here so early?" Riley raised her eyebrow at me.
I shrugged, "I don't know, I guess there wasn't as much traffic as usual."
Riley shrugged, "Well can you please watch my stuff? I'm gonna leave it here and go to meet James in Studio B."
"Sure, no problem." I said nonchalantly.
"Thanks, you're the best." Riley smiled at me then walked to Studio B.
I sighed, and checked my phone again,3:10. What am I supposed to do for 20 minutes?
"What's up cutie?"
I immediately jump up and look at the doorway, there's nobody- I turn around and see Emily behind me and I give her a huge hug.
"Emily I've been waiting for you, I'm so happy you're here."
Emily starts to laugh, "Sit down, let's talk and clear things up."
I take a seat on the bench and face Emily.
"So, I really like you, and you really like me so I guess that we're together now."
Emily says softly, I feel my heartbeat increasing and I feel myself uncontrollably smiling and nodding,
"Yeah, yeah so we're seriously together? Like for real?" I asked eagerly .
Emily smiled, "Yes I'm seriously your girlfriend."
I leaned in to kiss her when I felt her finger on my lips, "But for right now can we keep it a secret? I just need some time to figure out how to tell people." Emily said.
"Of course, take as much time as you need. I'm just happy that we're finally official." I gave her a forgiving smile and she smiled back.
She grabbed my hand, "How about we meet after rehearsal. You can come to my house. My parents are working and Riley has plans tonight so the house is completely free. This way we can talk more there without it being secretive, and maybe you know, some other romantic stuff might happen." Emily smiled and winked at me.
I bit my lip and squeezed her hand tighter, "Sounds good."
I let go of her hand and we just sat there in comfortable silence. People started to walk into the studio and put their stuff in the cubbies. As everyone made their way to different parts of the studio we resumed talking.
"So, how do you like my choreography." Emily giggled, I laughed, "It's great, good work."
She smiled at me, it was so funny that just seconds ago we were talking about being each other's girlfriend and nobody here knows it, well except Eldon and Hunter. We spent the next few minutes pretending to talk about dance while we're really just laughing at the fact that almost nobody here knows what's going on between us. Eventually Emily went through the rehearsal. The rehearsal seemed to take ages. I just want to go to her house and not have to worry about other people being around.
"Okay everyone, have a good night. See you tomorrow." Emily said cheerfully.
Emily walked up to me, "Sooo, you ready to go to my house?" Emily gave me a small flirty smile.
I smiled back, "Let's go."
We were walking down her street, we didn't talk much because Riley and James were right behind us, I rolled my eyes at Emily, why couldn't they have just gone a different way.
Emily looked back at James and Riley then back at me,
"When I turn to go to my house, keep walking then turn around when they leave, I'm so sorry but Riley is already super suspicious and-"
I nodded in agreement, "No problem. I get it."
"Really? Are you sure Michelle?"
I nodded again.
"You're the best."
Emily turned to her house and I kept walking, I stood at the bus stop pretending to wait for the bus but really I was waiting to go into her house.
It bums me out thinking she's ashamed of our relationship, but I understand where she's coming from. Coming out is hard and I want her to take her time. I'm willing to do this for her.
I look down at my feet then back at her house. I see James and Riley get into a car and drive off in the opposite direction. Thank god they're gone. I quickly walk back to her house, I walk up to the front doorstep and I see Emily there greeting me with a smile. I walk inside and shut the door behind me. Emily grabbed my hand, "Come on babe, let's go to my room."
We held hands on the short walk to her room. I love holding hands with her, it feels so nice, so natural. I just kinda wish we could do it in public. She pulled back the covers and laid down in her bed, she motioned for me to lay beside her, and I happily laid down beside her. She rested her head on my shoulder and I put my arm around her.
"You know how crazy I am about you right Michelle? I don't mean to be rude when I try to hide our relationship I just-"
I stop her, "I know, I understand. I'm not hurt by it don't worry. I completely get it."
Emily sat up and looked at me, "Really?"
I squeezed her hand and smiled at her, "Yes."
Our eyes locked and we leaned forward, our lips connecting, sparks flying. This kiss almost seems better than the last, I don't have that subconscious fear of being watched and I feel more relaxed and it just feels so much more natural. I could taste her lip balm and I could smell her, she smells amazing and tastes amazing, I could feel my heart smiling, I know that your heart can't smile, but mine sure feels like it is. I could feel her glowing smile against my lips, she giggled. I smiled and I looked into her blue eyes, "What?"
"It's just that, I'm so happy that you're my girlfriend, that's all." Emily gave me a quick peck on the lips and then she leaned back onto her pillow.
I rolled my eyes and laughed, I put my arm around her and again she rested her head on my shoulder.
"When did you start liking me?" Emily asked.
"Umm, this is gonna sound weird but I started to like you the moment I met you."
Emily grabbed my hand, "Really?" she asked with a tone of shock in her voice. She continued, "You liked me even when I was so terrible to you?"
I rested my head on her head and ran my fingers through her hair with my free hand, "Yeah, there was just something about you that got me hooked, I just thought at that point you would never like me back ever."
Emily sighed, "I'm sorry about treating you that way by the way."
I squeezed her hand tighter, "It's okay, don't worry. Anyways when did you start liking me?"
Emily laughed, "Well, about 2 weeks before Regionals. I remember the exact moment I fell for you, it was because of that stupid eyelash on my face."
I started to smile, "That's so cute Em, and that makes the story to our first kiss even better."
"Yeah I guess it does, you know what's funny, I remember at Regionals you almost kissed me, then that day at the mall you almost kissed me, why didn't you kiss me?" Emily asked.
I can't believe she remembered those moments.
I bit my lip,
"Well, I just thought you were straight at that point, it's as simple as that."
Emily buried her head deeper into my shoulder, "One more question, how did Hunter and Eldon know about us?"
"Well, I told Eldon a long time ago I liked you, and I also told Hunter I liked you when he came here. They're two of my closest friends so I trust them."
I remember the day I told Eldon. It feels like it's been ages since that day, but really it was just about a month ago.
"How did you and Eldon become so close anyways?" Emily asked.
"I don't know, I guess we just spent a lot of time on the duet together and we just bonded."
Emily laughed, "We can trust them, right babe?"
I love it when she calls me that, it makes me feel so happy inside.
"Don't worry, they're super trustworthy."
Emily wrapped her arms around my waist and looked up at me with big eyes, "Wanna put on a movie?"
"Yeah totally, what movie?" I ask.
"How 'bout The Fault in Our Stars?" Emily suggests.
"That movie, really? I didn't know you were into those kind of movies."
Emily giggles and hits me with the pillow that was laying beside her, "It's romantic, and we're watching it."
I roll my eyes and give in, "Fine."
Emily hugs me and gives me a kiss on the cheek, "Yay, trust me you'll love it."
Seeing her smile searching for the movie on Netflix made my heart warm. I find seeing her happy and her bright smile is one of the best things I could ever see, a sight so great it makes up for me having to sit through a movie I've seen one too many times. Emily curls up against me as the movie starts to play, and in this moment I realize truly how lucky I am to have her, and how I'm never going to let her go.
