It was a warm early morning; the date was January 1st, 1995 and people of Japan were waking up and greeting the start of a new year.
The streets were started to flood with people. The various shops were starting to open, inviting in customers. In many households, young childern were being shook awake by their mothers as they tried to get them ready quickly for school, men and women were getting ready to leave for their jobs and the elderly were busy reading their daily newspaper.
However the same cannot be said for a certain household that was located in the relatively rich area, where an old nanny was moving around the kitchen preparing breakfast for her young lady, who was five years old.
There were no other adults in the house except for the old lady, though it was quite common for the parents to not be present in the Akabane household.
Yuki, the old nanny in her 60s made her way upstairs to wake up the young lady, Akabane Karma...
The said redhead had just woken up, quite confused and a little terrified.

Waking up early was not my thing, but this particular morning the sun was peeking through the curtains and the light shone on my face.
Opening my eyes slowly I wondered why the sunlight was invading my room as I usually always close the curtains before going to sleep at night.Blinking away my sleepiness I realised that something was terribly wrong.
I immediately sat up looking around and observing my surroundings; it was certainly not my room.
'Where am I?'
I stood up from the bed I was on, only to find that my body felt weird, as if it was smaller than it's suppose to be, like a child.
As I tried to observe my limbs I noticed my head was covered in red.
'Is that blood? No it felt like hair, wait what?! I dont have blood red hair!'
I panicked and ran around the room looking for a mirror.
Finding one at the corner of the room I observed the reflection that was staring back at me.
It was a five year old girl with red hair that reached till her back, she had sharp yellow eyes.
'How in the world did I wake up like this?'
'I remember going to sleep in my bed! In my house nonetheless! Did I transmigrate?!'
At that moment the door of the room had opened revealing the face of a kind old woman.
"I see you are awake young lady! I have prepared your favourite breakfast" the old lady stated cheerfully.
"You should go eat, while I prepare the new clothes that your mother gifted you for new years."
'She looks to old to be working as a nanny, wait did she just speak Japanese?!'
'How the hell did I understand that?'
'What does she mean start of the year? New years was months ago!'
Realising that the old lady was the only source of information I had currently available, I decided to extract information asap.
"Umm, new years? So it's the start of January?"
'Holy! Did I just speak Japanese!'
"Why; yes of course it's January 1st the start of the year 1995" the old lady replied.
'1995!? That's like many years into the past!'
"I see- um Grandma."
The old lady, who I assumed to be this body's Grandmother looked stunned for a minute.
'Did I say something wrong?'
"Oh, um young lady, is something the matter you usually just call me old woman yuki."
'So she's not biologically related to this body, how rude can a child be to call such a nice old lady like that, and why is such an old lady working here as a nanny?'
"As it's a new year, I have decided to call you Grandma!" I tried covering up for the body's rudeness.
"Oh my! Alright whatever you say, you should go eat before the breakfast gets cold young lady Akabane" the old lady said with a smile.
"Ok!- wait what?" I paused realising which last name she just called me by.
"Is something the matter" the old lady asked in concern.
"Grandma, um- you should just call me by my first name; as you know I will be calling to you as my grandmother."
"Will that be alright?" The old lady hesitated.
"Yes; it's alright" I said, as I do want to know what my name is and it's not like I mind the fact that the old woman would be calling me by my given name as I am not originally Japanese.
So Japanese culture is foreign at best; as I've never been to Japan, all my knowledge simply came from anime.
"Ok then! From now on I shall call you lady Karma" the old woman smiled.
'Wait! Karma?! As in Karma Akabane?!'
