Once we reached the shore, it was pretty light out. Eddie and I rush to the truck and Erica and Lucus hop out of the cab and swing open the doors. We slide in and tuck ourselves into the floor board. I bring my knees up to my chest while he does the same.
Only after a couple minutes of driving, he sighs and shifts around like a toddler. Max throws a white sheet over our heads, and we look at each other. I wanted to laugh so bad from the bewildered look on his face. I stick out my lips and shift them to the side to cover the smile.
"How crazy is it that we are wanted criminals?" Eddie says in a sigh. "This isn't so bad. Not like I had any plans anyways." He readjusts his crossed legs. "Can we hurry? I can't breathe and it's freaking hot!" Eddie complains. His hands hover the top of the sheets.
"If anyone sees that mess of yours they'll call the police on you. I think anyone can recognize that hair of yours by now." I point at his head. He rolls his eyes and groans and I can't help but laugh.
"You're a tool, Gregerson."
"A sharp one at that." I hear Robin, Max, and Dustin laugh at my remark.
I hear Dustin laugh again.
"What's so funny Dusty Buns?" Eddie says offended.
"Oh, nothing."
"I haven't died of Hellfire and made you king yet." Eddie mumbles.
The rest of the car ride was long and bumpy. We had a full crew. Lucus, Max, Erica, Robin, Steve, Dustin, Nancy, Eddie, and me. Surely we had more than enough manpower to come up with a plan to kill Vecna.
My mind wanders and I start to think about yesterday and how Eddie stayed behind for me. How much pain I was in as soon as the Upside Down was broken through. My head was in a never ending vortex where everything echoed and I felt invisible to the world. The screaming was agonizing and blood curdling, as if it was several people getting tortured at once. It crossed my mind that maybe a mild concussion would do something like that but I'm not sure if it would be to that extent.
I blow a strand of hair out of my face and lean my head against the plastic. The whole left side of my body was squished against Eddie who seemed just as uncomfortable as I was. He abandoned the jacket finally and stayed in his dirtied Hellfire attire.
The truck finally came to a halt.
"Alright, gang." Dustin says. Eddie and I lift the sheets off and slowly look over the window. There were trailers everywhere and people were outside talking and laughing and having fun.
"A.. trailer park?" I pause.
"Yeah, we need to steal one." Robin says blatantly.
Steve looks over the wheel. "We need to be extra careful. Just- follow my lead." Eddie and I exchange glances and he smiles.
"You can't be seen!" I whisper to Eddie. "Everyone knows your face. Mine isn't as memorable or popular." He reaches down beside him keeping eye contact, and pulls a Michael Meyers mask up wiggling it in front of my face.
"How about now?" He shoves the mask over his hair and puts his hands up in a jazz motion.
"Kind of ironic, isn't it?" Max says.
"Eddie take the front and pick which one. We will all follow behind." I look at him and shake my head widening my eyes. She grins in response.
Max opens the back door and Eddie jumps out, squatting down. He looks back at all of us who are in a straight line. Eddie starts to squat run then pauses behind an RV.
"There," he echoes through the mask. There was an RV that wasn't too big or too small. The owners of it were in the back of it sitting and talking.
"We need to go around," I offer.
