I woke the next morning. I was so hungry. I looked down. Blood stained my stomach and legs. I couldn't see my own face or arms but I'm sure blood is there too. The day went by so slow. Still I was cold, my body was shaking. The weather would drop and wouldn't come back up much. The lowest it got was probably close to 25° F. Days passed. It was day five. I was giving up. My body was still numb, I couldn't move or feel anything. I heard something in the bushes. I breathed in and squeezed my eyes shut.
"Please don't hurt me," I whimpered.
Whatever it was came out. I heard panting. Two different beats. There was something else walking out. The dogs had a little growl to them. My heart started to race. Tears fell down my face. The water was turned off. The wind was blowing wildly. My body was shaking and I was shivering. Why was this happening to me?
Me of all people?
I felt someone's hands touch my stomach. I cringed. The other hand slowly touched my stomach. Their hands were warm.
"I won't ever hurt you," they said, "ever."
I knew that voice. I opened my eyes and saw Aaron. The two dogs: Diesel and Lily were sitting there looking around. I smiled and tears formed in my eyes. He took out a knife and cut my hands free. I couldn't stand. He dropped the knife and held me up. I was freezing.
"Jesus Emma," he said, "you're so cold."
I closed my eyes. He set me down and took off his coat. He put that around me and picked me back up. He started to walk away. The two dogs followed. He walked for hours on end. Finally we came to a house.
We walked up the stairs and the two dogs followed us. They are trained like the police canine units.
