(CHAPTER 19)
her back was breaking, the position in which she had woken up was weird, her back was flat against the bottom branch with her had to lay flat against catos chest. he was still asleep his chest rising and falling insuring hera that he was alive and not dead yet.
her plan today had only one step and that was to find prim, the little girl was alive, thankfully but lost somewhere trying to keep Peeta alive. right now the danger was Peeta, he had been so injured that prim would find it hard to walk carrying him. prim was strong but mentally not physically. she would believe she could carry Peeta but whether or not her body physically could was the question.
heras eyes shifted to cato again studying him, she wanted to go out and search but cato was asleep, his face looked several years younger like the innocent boy she remembered from the first day of school. she remembered how her eyes on that first stay strayed from every important person to him, she would constantly flick from the teachers to cato, secretly watching him unknown to both him and hera herself.
she amazed herself at how much she actually watched cato, she told herself in the past that it was because of her hatred for him but now she understood. she masked her feelings to everyone including herself tell herself that the reason she was attracted to cato and staring at him was that she needed to know what he was doing so she could do it better.
she was afraid of her feeling afraid that her nemesis who she had feelings for would laugh and reject her like a person swatting away a bee, she was scared of being hurt not physically because physical wounds either healed and the pain stopped or they killed you. emotional pain lasted forever, time may dampen it but it never leaves.
she moved ever so slowly closer to his sleeping body and wrapped his arm around her, the move, unfortunately, woke the boy but awake or asleep he still looked amazing. "morning" he mumbled like hera his back was also at breaking point, to stifle the soreness he stretched out his back. hera heard the faint popping of his back as it cracked releasing the tension built up over a night of sleep.
she lent up to kiss him surprising cato but in a good way, unable to stop himself he kissed back. " you don't know how long I've waited to do that" he whispered. hera was happy she smiled to herself. she had wanted to do that too for so long, the only thing wrong was the fact of limited time, they had maybe a week left to be together it hardly seemed fair.
"Shall we search for a certain damsel" cato mused as he untied the length of rope securing both himself and hera to the tree in which they slept. yawning hera nodded and used her body to slowly climb down the tall tree branch by branch. Make sure to not put too much weight on the small more fragile branches.
when her feet were firmly on the ground she stretched using her weight to release the built-up tension. feeling lighter and less stiff she waited for cato who because of his size and muscle mass found it harder to climb down a tree. the branches that could take heras weight snapped under him. she laughed as he stumbled down almost ending up face first in the soil by her feet.
