The Plan

At Jonathan's house we're all together, Hopper is on the phone, Joyce is crying in Will's room and everyone else is quiet. When he hangs up the kids start to argue with Hopper about the things that escaped the lab. I'm still in shock that all of this is happening but I'm trying to stay calm. I stand next to Steve when Mike starts to tell the others about Bob. I get quiet when he mentions Bob. I thought about how happy Joyce was when she told me about him, and how awful she must feel. My thoughts are interrupted when Steve chimes into their conversation, "what do you mean?" Mike responds, "His army, if we can stop his army we can stop him." Everyone splits up and looks for drawings I stare in confusion until we all come back to the table. Then we all come up with a plan to take on the mind flayer.

While everyone is talking and trying to figure out its weakness, we hear a voice. Its Joyce. "We need to kill it. I want to kill it." Her voice shaking, we can all see she's in pain after losing Bob. Hopper tries to calm her down and tells her we don't know how yet, but Mike points out that Will is still connected to it.

After we cleared out the shed and helped make it so that Will wouldn't recognize it, I waited inside with Steve and the others. We waited for a while until Hopper came rushing in. Will is still trying to help. Jonathan rushes back to the shed with his stereo and we stayed inside to decode Will's message until we were able to spell out CLOSE GATE.

RRRIIINNGGG RRIINGGGG

We snapped our heads towards the phone, Dustin rushing over to hang up. It rang again but then I watched in shock as Nancy ripped the phone from the wall. We waited in silence and Max finally asked, "Do you think he heard it?" and Steve answered. "Its just a phone, we could be anywhere."

We all freeze when we hear the screeching.

Hopper comes in and shouts for us to stay away from the windows and asks Jonathan if he can use a gun. Nancy takes it and says, "I can." Steve grabs a bat covered in nails and hands me an old bat we found in the shed. I'm not sure what to expect but I stay close to Max. It gets quiet.

We hear a loud roar outside and jump. Lucas pulls out his slingshot and points it at the window. The screeching gets closer but then we hear a struggle and it stops. We wait for anything to make a sound when suddenly the window breaks and a creature comes flying through it. It crashes through the room and lands with a thudd. When we get closer to inspect it, Max asks, "is it dead?" Before anyone can answer we hear the door and turn, ready for another creature to come through. The lock turns and the door swings open to reveal a girl. This must be the girl the kids talked about in the car. Eleven.

After a heartfelt reunion and a few awkward introductions. I try to convince Max she should get home but she's determined to stay home, and with Billy out looking for her I can't call him to let him know I've found her. So we wait. Hopper, Eleven and the Byers get ready to leave and I stay inside while Steve and Nancy talk outside. When I'm almost finished wrapping the now dead demodog in a blanket, Steve comes in. I notice Nancy isn't with him and before I can ask, he looks at me and shakes his head. He seems disappointed so I assume something happened, and it wasn't good for him, but now isn't the time to talk about it. Dustin is throwing the contents of Joyce's fridge onto the ground to make room for the creature. Steve tries to talk him out of keeping a demodog in her fridge, "Yeah I already tried to tell him," I chirp from the living room.

Mike is restless and wanting to do something. As Steve tries to reason with him I say, "there's nothing we can do." "That's not entirely true..." Dustin states. Steve and I listen as the boys and Max devise a plan to distract the demodogs, and Steve interjects, "and then we all die!" "yeah guys, I'm with Steve. It's not safe." "Well that's your point of view" Dustin argues. "No that's a fact" Steve retorts. The kids continue planning while Steve protests. While they argue I hear the familiar sound of a car approaching, but I know this car.

Max and I rush to the window. "That's my brother," she says, "he can't know I'm here." I try to calm her, "Max he's looking for you, lets just go and explain-" she cuts me off, the panic in her voice is clear. "He'll kill me- kill us." she gestures to the other boys. I look back out the window and see Billy's headlights as he revs the engine. I share a concerned look with Steve and we both look back towards the window. I get that Max shouldn't have run off, and that Billy's dad is pissed and made him cancel our date, but Billy will understand if we explain it to him, right? "Listen, I'll talk to him, tell him what's happening and -" I start but the boys cut me off. "NO! He can't know." I look over to Steve, he nods, agreeing with the kids. The light outside goes dark. Billy is coming. I'm thinking of what we can say to Billy when suddenly Steve walks outside.
