Start of Something New

Chapter 9

The Next Day Candace woke up with a slight headache. She looked over and noticed Vanessa sound asleep funny she didn't even hear her come in last night. She got herself out of bed and took some pills to help with her headache and lots of water. Afterwards she proceeded with getting ready for her classes. She put her hair into a ponytail and then put on some jeans and a black shirt. Once she was ready she brushed her teeth and grabbed her purse and headed to her classes.

A couple of hours had gone by and she entered her last class for the day. She was slightly nervous since she and Jeremy were going to present their project today to the class. And even though she was certain they were going to ace it she still got a bit nervous talking in front of people which she didn't know how she still hadn't gotten over her stage fright considering all the times she sang in front of thousands of people whenever her brothers would throw concerts once in a while. She took her seat next to Jeremy. "Hey you ready?" She asked him. "Yup" he said, not even looking up at her. She didn't think much of it though she figured he probably didn't get enough rest and shrugged it off.
"Okay class I hope everyone is ready with their presentations. We're going to start off with the first row and work our way up" he said, gesturing to the students in front of them. Candace listen and watched intently to the different ideas other students came up with and about 30 minutes later Mr. Hayes looked up at her and Jeremy. "Okay next is Ms. Flynn and Mr. Johnson." She took a deep breath and headed to the front of the class with him.
Jeremy started off the presentation and halfway through it candace took over the rest of the half explaining how sexual assault can happen so easily at these kinds of parties and afterwards the teacher clapped in approval.

"Nice work you two. I'm very impressed with the work you two did. I can proudly say you definitely aced this" he said with a huge smile." "Thank you" they both said, going back and taking their seats.
After class was over Candace grabbed her purse and looked over at Jeremy. "Hey you wanna go grab some lunch or something to celebrate our success. She asked, smiling at him. "Sorry but I've got a lot of studying to do maybe next time." He said getting up immediately after and walking out of the class. "Oh okay" she said, disappointed watching him get up and walk out of class. She frowned thinking maybe he's just having a bad day? Or something.

It was later on in the evening and Candace was sitting on her bed working on some of her homework while listening to her music when Vanessa walked in through the door. "Hey Candace" "hey Vanessa how was your day today?" "It was good, thanks . How about yours?" "Eh, it was okay ." Vanessa nodded as she sat down on her bed. "So you wanna talk about it?" Candace puffed. "What do you mean? Talk about what," she asked. Vanessa chuckled "Candace we're roommates I've gotten to know you enough to know when something is bothering you." She sighed. "Yeah I guess you're right...I don't know Vanessa it's kinda silly..I think I'm just overthinking" Candace sighed and proceeded with explaining to Vanessa what had happened after she told Jeremy about her and Jason getting back together till what happened in class earlier that day.
"Wow I think you may just be reading too much into it I mean I don't know maybe he was having a shitty day? And maybe he really does have a lot of studying to do '' Candace nodded "yeah I suppose you're right... I'm going back to my homework" she said putting her earbuds back in.

It was the next day and Candace was seated in class when she noticed Jeremy entering. She smiled in his direction but then frowned, noticing him taking a seat somewhere else. She turned her attention back to the teacher quickly when he noticed her staring at him. She didn't understand what she might've done to make him not want to sit next to her in class. Throughout the rest of the class she was trying to concentrate on what the teacher was saying but she was having a hard time. Why was it bothering her so much? She didn't quite know yet? Her thoughts were soon interrupted noticing those around her getting up and going their separate ways. She got up from her seat and turned in his direction. She planned to confront him about it but it looks like she missed her opportunity when she saw him swiftly leave the classroom in what seemed like a hurry. She sighed and gathered her stuff. Thankfully that was her last class for the day as she was walking back to her room she felt her phone vibrate against her pocket. She took it out and noticed it was Jason calling her again! He had been texting and calling all day while she was in class. She rolled her eyes and answered the call.

"Hey Jason what's up?"

"Hey babe I just wanted to hear your beautiful voice. I miss and love you."

"Aww I do too babe are you off work today?"
She asked since he had been calling and texting her pretty much all day.

"Yeah I had the day off today but I spend it missing my beautiful girlfriend."

She chuckled
"That's sweet babe but I have to go but we'll talk later okay"

"Oh okay I love you I'll call you later tonight"

"Okay babe love you too bye."

She hung up and entered her room and noticed Vanessa wasn't back yet. She threw her backpack on the ground and laid face flat on her bed and groaned. Why was Jeremy on her mind more than her own boyfriend? She couldn't be thinking about him this much, right? She turned over and decided a nap would do her some good. She closed her eyes and within minutes entered into a deep sleep.
