Sam wanted to chase after his brother so he tried to go after him as fast as he possibly could but after Dean told their parents he was gone and with their constant protests, nothing could have changed Dean's thought process. Tears began to form in Sam's eyes, having Dean leave was like having a bandage ripped off the wound. It hurt, Sam wanted to find a way to have Dean understand that no matter what he tried, the Men of Letters were going to hunt him down as well as his family until there was nothing left for him to care about.
"Mom? Dad? Are we really going to let him walk off like that?" Sam desperately asked his parents to tell him what to do. "He could be in danger out there by himself!"
"Sam, your brother just found out he wasn't who he thought he was," Mary explained. "So his whole world just came crumbling down on him, and the only way he will relieve himself is put his past to rest." Sam still didn't like that answer, why couldn't Dean just see that it didn't matter where he came from?
"I know you're upset Sam, but sometimes to figure things out a person needs space." John said.
"But!" Sam started.
"But isn't going to help Sam," Mary told him. "The only way you can help Dean is to make sure he doesn't get hurt while figuring things out." Sam scoffed at his mother's words. What nonsense are they saying? Dean needed help and he was out there alone, so why were they doing nothing? His eyes filled with tears and ran off to his room, now he understood how Dean felt whenever they were separated.
"He is going to sneak out after him, Mary." John said.
"I know," Mary answered. "But the sooner they know, the sooner they'll find each other again."

Ketch was sitting just outside in the alleyway in a white van near the city when he saw his son walk into the city. Starting the car, he flinched at the sound it made when it turned on but when Dean hadn't turned around, he slowly began to follow him. He made sure to be inconspicuous so that Dean wouldn't suspect anything, in the short time he had been following Dean. Ketch had learned that his son was clever so just taking him right there wouldn't work, he needed a different method.
"I'm almost proud of him," Ketch said. "But I don't think he'll get very far without his sidekick." Ketch continued to follow Dean until it became clear that his son was becoming uneasy, so Ketch decided to drive off to plan out the new part of his plan. A sinister smile made its way to his face as he thought about all the possible things he could do to that scared little kid.

At first, Dean didn't realize that a van was following him until he saw its reflection in one of the nearby shops, remembering what his family told him he tried to take a crazy turn into a square to see if the van was truly following him and with every turn he took the van did the same thing. He kept it up until the van disappeared down the opposite route.
"Who the hell was following me?" Dean asked to no one in particular. He wanted to make sure that he wasn't going to be followed much like what happened at the park now: a shady white van was giving him the same vibes. It also proved his point that as long as he was away from his family there was no way the men of letters could get to them. Plus he was the one they were after. But he was hit with another question once his heart finally stopped racing, where was he going to go? He couldn't just keep walking forever, eventually, he would run out of supplies, so what was he supposed to do? A sudden thought occurred to him and he raced to Bobby's house hoping that Bobby would be able to help him. After a while of running, he arrived at Bobby's door and knocked on it. On the other side, he could hear footsteps heading toward the front door. The knob turned and the door opened revealing an older man with graying hair and a baseball cap.
"Dean?" Bobby said in shock. "What are you doing here?"
"It's a long story," Dean answered. "Can I come in?" He asked.
"Sure son, what's the matter?" Bobby responded and allowed Dean to enter the room. "You look like you've just had a scare, do you want something to drink?" Dean nodded and Bobby got up to get him some water. "So what's going on kid? I haven't seen you like this well ever." Dean took the glass of water and tried to figure out what to say, he didn't even really understand the situation himself. His mother was dead, his actual father was trying to kill him, his parents weren't his real parents, and he felt like he was drowning in a whirlpool of lies.
"Well I ran away," Dean said. "I found something out that changed everything, I don't know how to say it so I'll just say it, I'm adopted." Bobby didn't know what to tell Dean, of course he already knew about Dean's adoption, he was the one who was there when they signed the paperwork.
"That is big," Bobby said, trying to hide the fact that he knew all about it. "I know this might all come as a shock but.."
"You were there they told me already," Dean finished him. He sighed heavily, still uncertain about how to react to all this. "I just don't know who I am supposed to be now, I want to know who I am?" He asked. "That's why I had to leave, I just need to figure out who I am." Bobby walked over to one of his bookcases and pulled out an old beaten journal from sixteen years ago. He walked over to Dean and politely handed him the journal.
"I know you have a lot of questions, kid, especially about the men of letters," Bobby explained. "But not only did I know the Winchesters, but I also knew your birth mother. If you want to know more about her, then there's the journal," he continued. "However, I must warn you that your birth and your mother's pregnancy are the result of rape." Dean wasn't expecting that and it, unfortunately, made him feel worse.
"Oh, that is..." Dean stammered. "Maybe I shouldn't have asked."
