6 - the incident

(Lukey's P.O.V)

"Took him away? Mikey, what happened?", I frown, holding him close.

"W-when I was little, Ashy was my bestest friend. Ashy was the one who taught me to be a kitten! Ashy said he had to be a kitten, because kittens' mommies and daddies didn't hurt them. That they was all cute and cuddly, and everybody loved them. Kitties get lots of love, that what Ashy said..", Mikey began, his voice was shaky and nervous. It broke my heart.

"So one day when we was playing, we w-was in this tree, because kitties like to climb trees y'know? A-and Ashy's mommy came outside, y-yelling and told us get down! I was s-scared. she pulled Ashy out of the tree and threw him on the ground. A-and when he fell, he w-was holding onto my paw. A-and he pulled me d-down with him and I hit my head. I w-woke up in the hospital, and mommy said they took Ashy away.", he began crying, and I pulled him as close to me as I could, stoking his hair and kissing his forehead.

But what ever happened to Ashton?

"Oh Mikey baby, I'm so sorry." I closed my eyes as I held him and I felt tears well up in my eyes. How could this have happened to him? Mikey, of all people? My sweet, innocent kitten.

"Mikey? How long ago was that?", I asked softly, pulling my head back so I could look at him.

"W-we was s-seven.", he sobbed quietly.

"Oh baby..", my heart hurt at the sight in front of me.

I didn't know what to do, or what to say. So I just held him, and he cried, and I kissed him and held him, trying to press his broken pieces back together, until eventually he fell asleep.
