13 - superman

Luke spent the rest of the day with Michael, making his last day in town a good one until he left.

They went out to all of Michael's favorite places, then came home and made brownies together and watched Shrek, while cuddling.

Luke knew he couldn't go with Michael, but he wanted to so badly. He didn't want to make his kitten face that alone. But sadly, Luke was no superman.

So Luke stayed over with his boyfriend that night, and they stayed up talking and whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears until Mikey fell into a rhythmic sleep.

Luke stroked his fluffy pink hair and watched him, thinking about their future.

The question on his mind was the same one everybody wanted an answer to; would Mikey ever grow up? Would he ever be able to have a real relationship, a real family? Or would he stay like that, a prisoner to his frail little mind?

Luke didn't know. But all he knew, was that he loved the kitten that lay there beside him entangled in his arms.

The next morning came too fast. They got up and got dressed, Luke helping Michael and his mother load their packed bags into the back of their SUV.

Once everything was packed and ready, all they had to do was get in the car and go. This was he moment Luke dreaded the most.

Michael stood beside the door of the car, his mother inside waiting for him. Now it was time for goodbyes, just for a few days.

"I wish you could go with me.", Mikey pouted, engulfing his boyfriend in a hug.

"I know baby me too, but it's only for a couple of days okay?", he said, kissing the top of Mikey's forehead.

Mikey pouted, drawing back so he could look at Luke.

"B-but I'm gonna m-miss you-u!", he started crying, collapsing into Luke's arms once again.

It broke Luke's heart to see his boyfriend so sad. He stroked his hair and whispered words of comfort in his ear, wishing so badly he could just get in the car and go with them.

But the moment ended far too fast, and it was time to go.

Luke placed his hands on either side of Mikey's head and kissed him deeply, Michael kissing him back the same.

After their kiss Luke kissed his forehead once more, and gave his boyfriend another hug goodbye.

He opened the car door for him, shutting it once he was seated and buckled in.

Mikey pressed his face and hands to the glass, his little kitten nose squishing just the slightest bit. "I love you Lukey.", he whispered, just as the car began to move.

"I love you Mikey.", Luke said back, watching his boyfriend disappear into the highway.
