The following days and weeks in Luke and Mikey's relationship had gone well. Michael was only a kitten half of the time now, and never when they left the house.

He started to understand the concept of a relationship more and more, his time with Luke was really helping him grow up.

Mikey even decided that he wanted to try to go back to school, so he could be "smarter than Luke".

Luke was so proud of Michael, growing up and trying new things. His kitten was growing up.

Luke ran over to Michael's house one morning, met at the door by Karen.

"Oh hey Luke!", she smiled warmly, giving the lanky boy a hug.

"Hi Karen.", he smiled back.

"I think Mikey has something to tell you when you go up there okay? There's cookies in the den!", she said, as she walked out of the door, purse in hand and sunglasses on. She was most likely going grocery shopping, Luke had guessed.

Luke stomped up the stairs by habit, entering Mikey's room. He was greeted by Mikey sitting on his bed, a Spider-Man suitcase at the end, packed with his kitten ears sitting on top.

"Going somewhere sweetheart?", Luke chuckled, sitting on the bed beside Michael.

"Y-yes..", Michael's bottom lip trembled.

Luke froze for a moment, a look of concern taking over his face. Possibilities began to fill his head and he got scared. His kitten couldn't leave him, not now especially, when things were going so great!

"G-going where Mikey?", Luke asked slowly, taking the smaller boy's hand in his.

"Mommy said we're going back to my home-hometown to v-visit family for a couple days..", he said, tears filling his eyes.

Luke momentarily was flooded with relief. "What's wrong with that baby?", he asked, pouting at the sight in front of him, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend.

"I-I'll miss you!", he burst into tears, collapsing into Luke's chest.

Luke's heart broke at the sight of the sad pink-haired boy in front of him. He held him tighter, "Baby it's okay, it's only for a couple days yeah? I'll see you when you get back."

"N-no Lukey, I can't do it without you!", he cried harder.

"What why not, are you scared of your family?", Luke frowned, looking at his kitten in concern.

"No...", he said quietly, his voice slightly hoarse from sobbing.

"Then what baby?", he asked, rocking the boy gently.

"C-can't see that tree, that house again.", he cried.

"What tree? What house.", Luke asked slowly, trying to piece together what Mikey said.

"Ashton.", was all he managed to choke out. He cried harder, his fingers digging into the material of Luke's shirt as he tried to get as close to Luke as he could.

"Oh baby...", was all Luke could say, because his heart shattered once again.
