Scarred and Saved

Jonathan runs inside. Nancy and Steve make Ben sit down. 

"I'm fine, really," Ben says. 

"You're not fine," Steve responds. 

Jonathan comes back with supplies to clean and wrap the wound. He kneels beside Ben. "This is gonna hurt like hell." 

"Just do it," Ben says. Steve and Nancy each hold one of Ben's hands. Jonathan begins cleaning the wounds. Ben squeezes Steve and Nancy's hands. 

"Holy shit you have a tight grip," Steve says. 

"Sorry," Ben apologizes. Jonathan finishes cleaning the wound. He wraps it. Ben lets go of Steve and Nancy's hands.

"Thanks," Ben says. 

"You're welcome," Jonathan stands up. Steve and Nancy also stand up. Steve helps Ben up. 

"We should go back to the school," Jonathan says. Everyone agrees. Jonathan, Nancy, and Ben get in Jonathan's car, and Steve gets in his car and follows them to the school.

There are police cars and ambulances everywhere. We all get out of the car and find the boys. Dustin hugs Ben and Mike hugs Nancy. They all go to the hospital where Will is. Jonathan goes to be with Will and his mom. Everyone else is in the waiting room. Ben is sitting next to Steve. They talk while they wait.

Jonathan walks into the waiting room. "Come on." 

Mike gets up. He starts shaking Dustin and Lucas. "Guys. Guys, he's up. Will is up. Guys, Will's up." Ben stands up. Dustin and Lucas wake up. They hurry after Mike who is already running down the hall. Jonathan, Nancy, and Ben follow them. They get into the room Will's in and Ben leans against the wall. The kids are all talking to Will about what's happened. Ben notices Nancy walk out, but decides to leave her be. Ben is trying to relieve some of the pain from the scratch.

"You okay?" Jonathan asks. 

"Yeah, I'm fine," Ben says paired with a fake smile. 

Joyce looks at Ben. "What happened?" 

"Nothing," Ben lies. 

"The creature, it scratched his stomach," Jonathan says. 

Joyce is immediately worried by this. "May I look at it?" Ben nods. Joyce walks toward him and lifts his shirt. She touches the wrap slightly. Ben winces. "Sorry." 

"I'll be fine." 

"Are you sure?" 

"Yeah." The boys are all looking at Ben now.

"Are you okay?" Dustin asks. 

"I'm fine," Ben says. He smiles. Dustin and the other boys aren't convinced. 

"Did it get you too? The Demogorgon?" Will asks. 

"I guess you could say that. It pinned me to the ground and scratched my stomach in the process," Ben says. 

"Are you okay?" Lucas asks. 

"I'll be fine. It's only a scratch, nothing more." 

"Are you sure?" Mike asks. 

"Yeah," Ben responds. He walks over to the boys and puts his arms around Dustin, Lucas, and Mike. "I'll always be here to babysit you four." The boys chuckle. "I'm glad you're okay, Will. How are you feeling?" 

"Pretty good, actually." 

"Good, I'm glad." 

Everyone continues to talk for a while. Soon, everyone except the Byers goes home.
