Halloween

A little under a year has now passed. It's Halloween, and Dustin is in the living room before school wearing his Ghostbusters costume. Ben is watching while their mom takes dozens of pictures. Dustin goes to school. 

. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .

That night, Dustin goes trick-or-treating with his friends. Ben stays home. Dustin comes home. Ben hears his mom scream. He walks out. "What's going on?" 

"Nothing," Dustin says, "I just put a motor in the ghost trap. It scared mom." 

Ben's not convinced. Dustin hurries into his room, and Ben follows him. He closes the door. "Dustin, what the hell is in there?"

Dustin walks over to his turtle's tank, sets down the trap, and takes the top off the cage. He takes his turtle out of the tank. "Sorry, Yurtle. Temporary eviction, buddy," Dustin says while putting Yurtle on the floor. 

"What are you doing?" Ben asks. Dustin picks up the trap and opens it. He dumps a weird, slimy creature into the tank. "What the hell?" Ben walks over to the tank and crouches down to look at the creature. 

"What are you, little guy?" Dustin asks. 

"Something very weird," Ben says while standing up, "I'm going to bed. Just make sure that thing doesn't get out." Ben starts walking out

"Don't you want to know what it is?" Dustin asks.

Ben stops and turns to look at Dustin. "That thing looks nasty, so no, I don't want to know what it is." 

"You're really not curious?" 

"No, that thing makes me want to throw up. Just keep it in the tank and get it out of here as soon as possible." 

"But it could be a new species" 

"I. Don't. Care," Ben says while walking out.
