EVA CAMPBELL CLOSED HER SUITCASE WITH A SIGH. She had been trying to close it for ten minutes and she was starting to think she would never be able to. She was wearing a little red summer dress with small flowers that suited her perfectly. The dress was strappy and came down to just above her knees.
"Are you happy to go?" asked her friend Gaby, who was sitting on her bed.
"Very. This summer is going to be great, I can feel it!"
"Talk for yourself." grimaced her friend, falling on her back. "I'm staying here with my parents, talk about holiday."
"Come on, you will come to see me for a few days." the brunette reminded her with a smile.
"Right! I can't wait to be there! I'm finally going to meet this Jeremiah I've heard so much about." she laughed.
"I don't talk about him that much." replied Eva, rolling her eyes.
But she knew it was wrong. She had been telling her about Jeremiah for weeks because she couldn't wait to see him again.
"Of course! You never talk about him." said Gaby in an ironic voice. "You can't wait to be there and to see him again! You want him to kiss you, you want a hot make-out session with him, you little perv."
"Shut up!" her friend exclaimed, throwing a t-shirt at her. "That will never happen anyway."
"Why not?" Gabrielle asked.
"Because he doesn't like me like that, that's why!"
"You can't never know if you don't ask him."
"Eva, Louis, time to go!" Caroline suddenly called her children.
"Coming!"
"I'm going to miss you." Eva told her best friend when all the suitcases were in the trunk.
"Me too. Have fun in Cousins." Gaby smiled.
The two girls hugged for a few seconds before pulling away with a smile.
"I love you."
"I love you too. See ya later!"
"Bye!"
Eva get in the car with her mom and brother and they hit the road to Cousins Beach. Louis was driving with his sister next to him and their mother was in the back seat. Eva had failed her license because of the stress so she had to continue training while Louis had gotten it the first time.
Her brother and she didn't look so much alike physically. She was brunette with straight hair, he had completely black and curly hair, she had light eyes, he had black eyes, she was tanned all year round while he was completely white because his skin cannot tan. Full of little differences that made it practically impossible to guess that they were brother and sister. Even more guessing that they were twins. However, she loved him more than anything else in the world and was ready to do anything to please him.
They rarely said it to each other, in fact they spent a lot of time fighting and insulting each other but it was always for fun. It was their own way of showing that they loved each other.
Caroline gave them the final recommendations on how they should behave at Susannah's and they arrived after several long hours of travel.
When they parked, the Conklins' car was already parked in the driveway. Susannah and Laurel came out of the house to greet them and Belly, Jeremiah, Conrad and Steven ran from the back of the house.
Jeremiah rushed over to hug Caroline and Louis. He then quickly turned his head to look for Eva and saw her hugging Steven.
Eva and Steven had a brother/sister relationship, while not being related by blood, which meant that the things she couldn't tell her real brother because of shame or embarrassment, she told Steven. She texted him whenever she needed someone to talk to and he was doing the same.
She suddenly felt two arms wrap around her waist and lift her off the ground. She gasped in surprise and it made the person holding her laugh while he spin her in the air.
"Jer!" she exclaimed.
"Hi, you." he smiled, laying her back on the ground.
"I missed you so much." she said hugging him.
"I missed you too, Vava."
"Hey! I already told you to not call me that!" she laughed as she slapped his shoulder.
"And I already told you I'll never stop." he shouted back.
Conrad approached and she jumped in his arms to hug him. Susannah and Lauren then rushed to the girl and embraced her.
"Hello, sweetheart!" Susannah smiled while looking at her. "Look at you, you get even prettier every summer!"
"You keep growing?" Laurel exclaimed.
"Only two inches." replied the brunette.
"It's already too much. You're taller than us. I remember you when you were only 3'11."
"Well, luckily I'm not that size anymore." the brunette jocked.
She then rushed at Belly whose clothes and hair were already soaked.
"Oh, my poor Bells! You've already been into the pool?"
"And it's your turn!" the boys yelled.
"Oh no! No, no, no, don't you dare!" she screamed, trying to run away.
She narrowly dodged her brother but the four boys surrounded her and Jeremiah grabbed her by the waist as she ran past him.
"No, Jer, please let me go!"
"Sorry, princess."
Conrad grabbed her arm, Jeremiah the other arm and Louis and Steven grabbed her legs. She screamed trying to fight back and begged them to let her go. They carried her to the pool while Belly followed them and they got on the edge before starting to rock her back and forth.
"One..."
"No, please!"
"Two..."
"I swear to God, guys-"
"Three!"
She screamed as she landed in the water and came back to the surface, wiping her eyes and brushing wet strands of hair from her face. She threw water on them and swam to the edge under the amused gaze of her friends. She hoisted herself out of the pool and Jeremiah came to put a towel over her shoulders.
"I don't thank you." she told him and he laughed.
She smiled and grabbed his arm to swing him into the pool. He came to the surface spitting water and she burst out laughing. He grabbed her by the legs and made her fall back into the water. She splashed several times Jeremiah who was writhing with laughter.
"I hate you!"
"No, you don't."
She clung to him and wrapped her legs around his waist to keep her head above water. He smiled as he slipped his hands around her waist to hold her close. They did that all the time when they were kids, he wore her and swam all around the pool. They called it the koala.
She could feel it: this summer will be great.
— im so excited ahah
