EVA CLOSED HER COMPUTER. It was the day of her movie night with Jeremiah and they had watched the movies 'Walk the line' and 'Dead Poets Society'.

"I wanna see Ethan Hawke." she had said.

And Jeremiah had said yes, for two reasons. The first was that he actually liked Ethan Hawke. The second - and most important to him - was that he wanted to please Eva.

She plopped down on her bed against her friend and grabbed a handful of popcorn from his packet.

"Hey, thief!" he pretended to be annoyed.

She laughed and threw some at him. She ate the popcorn and sat cross-legged on the bed to watch her friend.

"Now tell me everything."

"Everything what?" replied the boy, sitting down in his turn.

"You know well." she told him, feigning a smile. "Are you going out with anyone this summer?"

"Oh no. No."

"Really? But I saw you kissing that guy at Nicole's party, didn't that work out?"

"Um, no, we ended up not seeing each other again. It was not okay."

"Really? You seemed to get along well. That's too bad."

"Yeah. But I have someone else in mind."

"Is that true? Why didn't you tell me?" she exclaimed. "Is it someone from your high school or from here? Do I know them?"

"Kind of." he replied.

"Tell me who it is!" she insisted, trying to hide her disappointment.

"No, it's a secret." he laughed.

"OK, but at least tell me how they are."

"She loves helping others and making them happy. She always thinks of the good of everyone. She's smart, and probably the funniest and kindest person I know. And she's beautiful. The most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She understands me better than anyone and she's always there for me."

Eva's heart broke a little more. He seemed really in love. But on the other hand, he seemed so happy when he talked about her, his eyes were shining. And all Eva wanted was for him to be happy, even if it wasn't with her.

"She looks awesome." she said with a forced smile.

"She is."

      She nodded, gritting her teeth.

"What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Do you like anyone?"

She looked at him for a moment. He was waiting for her answer. His big blue eyes stared at her and she could have drowned in them. He was the only boy she really liked, she found the others uninteresting next to him. None came close to him. But she couldn't tell him. So she was just going to keep lying.

"Nope." she replied simply.
