"What's going through your head?"

Zayn looked at the dripping red 'It's time' with his hands in his pockets "How much I hate the Mariah Carey song"

Louis gasped "What do you mean?!"

"I hate opening my phone during the holidays because all you'll hear is that dumb song"

Louis frowned "Seriously. What are you thinking about?"

Zayn shrugged "A little here, A little there."

Louis blinked "Like... What?"

Liam was walking down the street with headphones on

Yes, he knows, it's stupid to not be aware... But Zayn assigned people to guard him

The thing is Liam can't spot them, Zayn told Liam he won't notice them, and Liam doubted him

But not a single person who was with him in his classes, or around university is anywhere to be seen

He smiled at Seth as he walked inside the building, and got into the elevator

But just as the door was closing, a foot came in and it opened again

"Sorry, do you mind?"

Liam furrowed his brows "Actually, this is kinda an exclusive elevator..."

The lady smiled "How do you know that I don't have a key for those floors?"

Liam kept looking at her "Well, because you wouldn't need to put your foot between the door to open it, you would've scanned your key and it would've opened almost immediately"

The lady looked at Liam and he smiled "Good day" he said as she stepped up and the door closed

"I think getting a dog would be a good idea"

Zayn looked at Liam then back at his laptop that was on the arm of the couch "Is it because of the lady who stopped you or your need to cuddle something all the time"

Liam frowned "I don't need to cuddle someone all the time"

Zayn chuckled then looked at Liam who was cuddled upto his side "Riiiiight"

Liam blinked "You'll be the one begging me to come back the second I get up"

Zayn didn't say anything, so Liam stood up, only to get forced down again

"HAH. Proven right" Liam smirked

Zayn rolled his eyes, then mumbled "Shut up"

Liam was studying while Zayn talked on the phone, he tried to focus, but whoever Zayn was talking to, he was being authoritative

Liam shook his head and muttered quietly to himself, he looked over his shoulder trying to sneak a look at Zayn

Only for him to already be looking at him, Liam turned back to his notes

He knew his finals were coming up, yet he couldn't help it...

He didn't care about getting his degree anymore.

"Can you tell me something about you that NOBODY knows?"

Zayn ran his fingers through Liam's hair as he looked at the ceiling "How dark can I go?"

Liam looked at him "As dark as you'd prefer"

Zayn stayed quiet then pulled away from Liam, he laid down beside him and looked at him so they were facing each other

"I always believed that uhh... If I died, my parents and sister would be alive and happy" Zayn said and Liam's shoulders fell

"I knew me dying was too late at that point... But I had all the money in the world but I didn't want it, I wanted to wake up every morning and have a bowl of cornflakes with my mother, argue with my sister and help my father fix my first car"

He sighed "But I didn't have a right to complain... So I started to ask scientists to make me a time machine, obviously they all failed, so then I started to look for ways to forget... The Tomlinson's grabbed me by the back of my shirt and sat me down on a therapists couch"

Zayn sighed "But it took too long, I spent nights wishing I would switch their lives with mine" He sighed "Which was bad in its own... Once someone is gone, and you have what people label as everything, you'd be ready to sacrifice it all to get back those people" Zayn's lips formed into a small weak smile

"I would've let it all go, I don't care about them, all I wanted was-"

"Another moment with them"

Zayn looked at Liam again and smiled "Yeah"

Liam cuddled upto him "Thank you for telling me, Zee"

Zayn closed his eyes as he held Liam "Thank you for listening, Jaan"

While Liam slept, Zayn sat up and walked towards a dresser, he knelt down and pulled it open

Inside was a safe, he unlocked it and pulled out a ring from the inside

It opens from the top, he flicked it open and closed a few times before he slipped it on

Closed everything, and went back to Liam's side and held onto him

It was like Zayn knew what was going to happen the next time their eyes opened ... And maybe he did, Because all he wanted

The next morning, they were both downstairs, drinking tea from while they sat together and whispered between themselves

Then the door opened, 4 figures walked inside

The receptionist, Louis, the lady from a few days ago, and a man he's never seen

Zayn tensed, but they both looked at him and smiled

"Hello sweet thing" The man said, looking at Zayn

The lady giggled, she shot the receptionist, who fell to the floor before pulling off her wig before she started to bounce "Oh, how much we missed you!!"
