Shinigami? ~ 2

It's been 5 days since you came down to earth, and you were slowly, but surely, noticing a change.

You walked to school with light, you were staring at his eyes. 'Why do lights eyes.. have a glint of red, I've never seen something like this in a human before.' Unknowingly to you, Light is aware of your observing, and he's quite distracted by it. "Is something the matter, Y/n?" You snap out of your daze and flinch, "It's nothing." Light seems confused. "Are you sure? You've been staring at me for a while." Light asks "Oh.. well, you've just been acting quite strange lately, no offense." You reply "None taken. But why do you think that? Is it something I've said?" Light asks, curiously "No, nothing of that sort. It's just, you've been acting different.. I know we've only known each-other for a couple days, but I'm a good observer, and I can say that you're acting different." Light seemed shocked, with wide-eyes, he answers, "I've been caught up with school lately, but I'm not sure why you think that." 'Wait. I remember now, a red glint usually is put over the eyes of a Death Note user. Is it possible... Light discovered a death note? No, it can't be, I don't see a shinigami..'

During class, you noticed that Light was flipping his textbook page up a lot. 'That's strange..'

While walking back home, Light cut off one of his classmates, that's unlike him, isn't he normally very kind? He's acting strange lately, I wonder what's wrong..

Light POV:
I walked into my home with Y/n, and my mother was waiting by the door, "How was it?" She put her hands out.. "It was fine.. huh? Oh.." I handed her my test results, "Wow Light, Full marks again! I never doubted you." My mother exclaimed.. Y/n stayed downstairs and sat with Sayu, while I went to my room, I heard my mother call out "If you need anything let me know light!" "No thanks mom." 'I already have what I want....' I walk to my desk, sitting down, and pull out my death note, looking over the names, I start laughing.. "You've taken quote a liking to it.." I hear a deep voice behind me, I flinch and look back, quickly. I see a large figure, with spiky hair and a shirt-like thing sewn to his skin. He had a smile that went from one side of his face to another, and piercing red eyes. I instantly scream and fall to the ground. "No reason to act surprised, I am the shinigami, Ryuk, that is my notebook. Judging by your laughter, you've already figured out that what you have is no 'ordinary' notebook." I stay on the ground, wide-eyed. Getting up, I state, "A shinigami, god of death.. well I'm not surprised, in fact, Ryuk.. I've been waiting.. for you." The shinigami seems surprised "Oh?" "I've already figured out this 'Death Note' I found is real, it didn't take me long, and now that I've witnessed it's power, I only feel more confident in what I'm going to do." I continue "Thats interesting.. I certainly wasn't expecting this. Several Death Notes have made their way into the human world in the past, but you're the first to have written this many names. Look at how many people you've killed in only five days." The shinigami looks at the notebook, "Most are reluctant to write this much." I sit back down, "I've already prepared myself for this Ryuk, I used the notebook even though I knew it belonged to a shinigami, and now this shinigami has come." I said "—So what will happen to me, you're here to take my soul, aright?" Ryuk is confused, "Huh? What do you mean, is that some fantasy you humans have come up with? I'm not going to do anything to you." "huh..?" "The notebook becomes part of the human realm as soon as it touches the earth. In other words, the notebook is now yours." I gasp, "This.. is mine?"
"If you don't want it, just give it to someone else, but if you give it away, I'd have no choice but to erase your memories of the notebook." "So then, you're saying that I can use the death note all I want and I won't be punished?!" I exclaim "Let's just say this, you will feel the fear and pain of all humans who use the notebook." Ryuk explains "And when it's your time to die, it will fall on me to write your name in my death note." I glance over to his notebook in a holster "Be aware that any human who has used a Death Note, can neither go to heaven, or hell, for eternity, that's all." Ryuk laughs "Now, you have something to look forward to, after you die." Suddenly, there's a knock on the door "Go ahead, answer it." Ryuk says, while I walk to the door, turning the door knob, it opens. "The neighbors brought some apples, I thought you'd want them." I take the basket of apples "And why is it so dark in your room? Turn a light on." I start closing the door "Thanks mom." As soon as the door closes, Ryuk starts absolutely demolishing the apple.

Y/n POV:
It was class time, and you started to notice that Light kept glancing over to his left during class.
'Wait a minute..' I focused more, and there was a.. A SHINIGAMI?! 'No, no way, he's not a death note holder, he can't be. Wait, over the past few days, I've noticed a lot of heart attack deaths, is it possible, that that's him? There's no other answers to it, he's a murderer. Well, I won't say anything yet I'll ju-' "Y/n!" Light whisper yelled, I flinched, has he been calling me this whole time? "Yeah?" I whispered back, "Are you okay, I've been calling your name for a while now and your breathing has become heavy.." 'Oh no.. does he know?" "Oh, sorry, I guess I was just thinking too much.." I replied "Well, focus on the teacher, the entrance exams are coming up, and you should be studying, considering that you just started.." 'Hah! I'm a goddess, I don't need to study, but he doesn't know that.' "Yeah.. you're right." I looked back at the teacher, I zoned out, and it was suddenly the end of class... great.

I was sitting in the guest room of Lights home, reading a book, when suddenly I heard a knock on the door..

I opened it, and I saw Light, "Hey, Light, what's up?" I asked "Hey, can I come in?"
"Sure, come in." I opened the door wider and Light came in, and sat on my bed, I sat next to him. "Y/n, is something bothering you? I noticed you were breathing heavily and you zoned out a lot during class." I tensed, 'I can't just tell him that I know he's been killing people, I mean, everyone knows someone's been killing people, they even gave him the name, Kira.' "Well, I've just been nervous with how this Kira has been killing people lately." I responded "Criminals, only. And you're not a criminal, are you?" Light corrected "No, but I'm worried he will kill people who don't agree with him, and I don't exactly agree with him. I just hope this all stops and everything can go back to normal, he's probably a great person inside, and he's just gone too far.." I said, not noticing Lights slight blush.

Suddenly, I feel arms wrap around me, I return the gesture, "It'll be okay, I'll protect you, Y/n." I nuzzle into his neck, 'I mean, I'm a goddess, so I can't die, but I appreciate the gesture..'
"Thank you, Light." 'Murderer.'
