The following is a fan-based story, all plots, concepts, themes, and characters are owned by their respective creators. I acknowledge that without the series; RWBY, Fairy Tail and Dragon Ball my story would not exist. Please support the creators of these shows by watching any or all of the original series.

The sun was barely over the horizon, and Ruby stood alone, with a view to see it. She stood on a cliff's edge holding her hands together in front of her chest. With her hood over her head, she looks down towards a stone monument in front of her. Ruby pulls her hood down and looks upon the stone monument sadly

Ruby: hey mum

Words were engraved on the stone monument that read, 'Summer Rose, thus kindly I scatter'. The stone monument was a grave dedicated to Ruby's mother

Ruby: sorry I haven't come by in a while. Things have been... well, things have been pretty busy. Oh! Dad's here too. He's, you know... dad. He's still teaching a Signal, but he told me he's going to be going out on some mission soon. I think he misses adventuring with you

Ruby pauses for a moment and grows a sad smile

Ruby: I miss you too

Ruby pauses again but quickly regains her energy

Ruby: haven't gotten kicked out of Beacon yet! So that's cool. I think being on a team with Yang helps. I keep her in line. That was a joke

Ruby looks down to her feet then back to the grave

Ruby: she's actually a really great fighter, you can tell she's learned a lot from dad. I suppose training with Dakkon has helped both her and him grow a lot too. Oh right, Dakkon's a friend I met at Beacon. Him and his team are from a Fiore wizard guild called Fairy Tail, cool isn't it? He and Yang have grown a special relationship which is really sweet.

Ruby rubs the back of her head

Ruby: Just don't tell dad, he doesn't know yet. Their team has helped us a lot, even when Weiss and Blake have had their problems. Oh! They're my teammates, and they're really strong too. The four of us make team RWBY. And yes, before you ask, that does cause a lot of confusion. Took a while for my friends to figure out when we were talking about one or the other

Ruby pauses again before continuing

Ruby: anyways, uh, I made a bunch of new friends, like Dakkon who I mentioned earlier. Then there's his team and Jaune's team too. And I met some... let's just say, odd teachers. Oh! We've also stopped some bad guys too! I guess it's like they say: like mother, like daughter

Ruby paused once more, then looked up and pondered a question

Ruby: I still wonder why Ozpin let me into the school early. But, uh, I guess he'll tell me one day. You know how he is. It's funny, the more I get to know him, the more he starts sounding like uncle Qrow

Before Ruby could continue, Zwei barks and she gives a small jump in surprise. Ruby turned around to see Zwei and a blonde-haired man next to him

Ruby: oh! Look's like dad's back. I gotta go! He's dropping me off at Beacon for the tournament match before he goes on his next mission! Wish me luck!

With a bright smile, Ruby places her hood back over her head and walks back to Zwei and her dad. She got around halfway before turning back around to say one last thing to her mother's grave

Ruby: it was good to talk

Ruby turns back around and runs to meet with her family as to not be late for the tournament

A large Colosseum flew in the sky. The arena in which the participants of the Vytal Festival tournament would battle. The arena was split between two halves of ice and lava habitats, large Dust crystals in each. The seats were filled, and the crowd were cheering on the current battle. Several students, parents, and everyday people alike all clapped and stood up from their seats
