Tipping Point

Ruby and the remaining members of team JNPR continue to travel between villages to make their way to Haven Academy. Qrow continued to follow them from the shadows to watch over them and ensure their journey went smoothly. Jaune kept an eye on the map in front of him while they travelled

Nora: another day, another adventure!

Ruby: what's on the agenda today?

Jaune lowered the map from his view

Jaune: walking!

Nora: with a side of...?

Ren: walking

Ruby slumped her shoulders and lowered her head in defeat

Ruby: Haven is a lot farther away than I thought

Ren: Ruby... how long did you think this journey was going to take?

Ruby: I don't know! I grew up in a small area; I've never been this far away from home

Jaune: right but... how long?

Ruby: maybe like, uh... two weeks?

Jaune: what?!

Ruby: okay fine, three or something! Look, whatever

Ruby looked up from the ground again and saw something that intrigued her

Ruby: hey, what's that?

Ruby was referring to the village ahead of them. Nora quickly ran and stood on top of the fence that lay on the edge of the path to get a better view over the large walls. The village itself looked abandoned; no noises came from it. Jaune looked again at his map in confusion

Jaune: that's strange... I didn't think we'd be hitting another village for a few days

Nora: are those buildings... damaged?

Jaune: we should search for survivors!

Jaune threw away the map and ran into the village, the others followed. Once they had entered the village the damage became clearer. What remained of most buildings were merely the frames that made up the skeletons. Ruby lifted a wooden palate to find nothing but a small bush

Ruby: anything?

Nora: nothing over here!

Nora jumped from her high vantage point onto the ground next to Jaune

Jaune: no one over here either!

Ren: it almost seems like the town was abandoned

The group continued further into the village to search some more

Nora: hey, I think I found something!

Everyone ran over to where Nora was to find a small sign with some vines that had grown over the words. Nora used her hand to move the vines out of the way. On the sign, the name 'Oniyuri' could be seen

Nora: Oniyuri? Never heard of it...

Jaune: me neither

Ren: I have. You might think of it as Anima's Mountain Glenn, had it never been completed. Years ago, the richest members of Mistral were unhappy with how the Kingdom was being run. Frustrated with the council, they pooled their resources together to build their own city. With their own laws. They hoped that one day, it could maybe become its own kingdom.
