Weiss walked down the hallways of her family's mansion with her head aimed at the floor. Each step she took echoed through the empty hallways and followed her into the rooms as well. Each room she passed seemed as though it was abandoned, with the only sound being heard was her footsteps. Weiss paid no attention to any of her surroundings yet stayed clear of anything she might bump in to.

The muscle memory of everything's placement had been engrained into her head from her lonely childhood. As Weiss continued to walk down the hallways towards her father's office, she was made aware that she was no longer alone. The voice of a boy caught her attention and made her jump from the surprise

Boy: good afternoon, sister. A pleasure to see you out of your room for a change

Weiss regained her composure and walked past her brother, using a formal and fed-up tone

Weiss: hello, Whitley. You're in a cheery mood today

Whitley: Klein made crêpes for breakfast

Weiss placed hand on her hip and rolled her eyes

Weiss: what do you want?

Whitley: I heard father shouting at someone in his study earlier

Weiss: mother?

Whitley: no, she's already drinking in the garden. I think it was a man. I just wanted to warn you. I heard he had asked to speak with you

Weiss: I'll be fine

Whitley: I know you will. You're strong, like Winter!

Weiss looked to her brother with a dumbfounded face

Weiss: you never liked Winter

Whitley: true. But you can't deny her resolve

Weiss: you... seem different

Whitey: and you've been gone. I'll have you know I didn't stop growing while you were away at Beacon. Anyway, good luck with father

Whitley turned around and walked away from Weiss. Behind her, Weiss could hear a faint, muffled shouting from her father's office

Weiss: thank you

Weiss continued to her father's office. To her side on the wall was a large family painting. On the family painting was a younger Weiss, Winter, and Whitley. While the young Whitley had a dead-pan face, the younger Weiss and Winter both had visible discomfort written on their faces. Behind them were Weiss' parents. The mother didn't have any ounce of joy on her face, while the father stood firmly with no emotions at all

The sun had set over on the road to Mistral. Ruby and her new team had set up camp for the night. Everyone took turns watching over the camp while the others slept. Once Ruby's shift had been complete and she had settled down to sleep, Ruby's mind carried itself into a dream of memories. Pyrrha's voice echoed through her mind, the events of Beacon's fall played back in her head

The final moments were captured; Ruby saw herself reaching the top of Beacon's tower where Ozpin's office used to be. Ruby told herself she would make it this time, make it in time to stop Cinder from killing Pyrrha. If not in reality, then in her own mind. But as she reached the top, the same events occurred

Ruby had no time to jump in and stop Cinder from firing the arrow into Pyrrha's chest. She merely arrived at just the right time to see the events unfold again. Once again, Ruby screamed Pyrrha's name, and the same white flash blinded her again. Ruby then woke up in a cold sweat to see the sun had barely risen
