~Mono's p.o.v.~
It has been a week since we destroyed the signal tower. I wrote as the water rocked me, The world is still scarred by corruption. The adults are still attacking us, but we've managed to avoid them for the most part. We've made a small raft, and traveled along a river. We are about to set off again, but my newly found girlfriend insisted we get more supplies. Ever since she had her shadow separated by the Thin Man, Six has been getting hungrier and hungrier. I've never known anyone to survive the the Thin Man, but we've been recording her changes. I wrote in my journal, closing it as light footsteps approached. Turning, I saw Six asleep on the raft, and my girlfriend bringing a box of food over.
Jake, one of our Nome friends, was copying her, a denim skirt swishing around her waist as she carried an apple, looking proud. "Hey Monochrome!" She greeted with a smile. "Hi Thir!" I chirped happily when she crouched down and pecked my cheek. "Wanna cast off?" She asked as she set the crate down. "Yes! First Mate Thirteen, raise anchor!" I said with a wide smile.

I raised the small tin anchor with my abilities. I was still having some difficulties controlling metals, but it was getting better. The river began to push us slowly along. The sky was blue above us as I let my feet dangle in the water. I lay back on the deck and enjoyed the sunshine until I heard splashing. I peeked open my eyes and saw Mono kicking his legs in the river. He had abandoned the bag completely, showing fluffy brown hair and his blue eyes. I smirked as an awful idea crept into my head.
I pulled my feet out of the water and went over to an empty bucket, filling it with cool water. I crept up behind Mono and dumped the water on his head. He shrieked stood up, shaking water off. "Agh! Thirteen?!" He shrieked, and I stifled a chuckle. "Yeah Mono?" I asked innocently. "You just started a splash war!" He said, throwing water at my face. I chuckled and every water bucket on the boat (three in total) shook and floated, scooping water and dumping all of it on Mono. We ran around the raft, slinging water at each other and trying not to fall off the raft.
Emphasis on trying.
Mono slipped in a puddle of water on the edge of the raft while I was chasing him. He exclaimed in surprise as he tipped over, grabbing the front of my shirt in an attempt to catch himself. We went over the edge and landed in the water with a splash! Water flurried around us in bubbles and I felt weightless in the cold water.
We surfaced laughing and gasping for breath as the raft drifted away slowly. I stared at the boy, his grey skin flushed pink as he laughed. I launched myself on him and kissed him as my head went under water. His hands where securely on my waist for a moment before we hit a stone on the bottom of the river and swam to the raft.
Life was good now. It was calm. We didn't have to run from adults. The sun began to set over the horizon as my eyelids got heavy, and the raft rocked me to sleep.

hirteen fell asleep beside me, and I put her near the middle, where we set up a pile of pillows and blankets. Almost immediately she latched onto a pillow, and recently Six and I had discovered she can purr somehow. We haven't told her yet, but it makes my heart flutter every time.
