"THE NOMES!"
wehurried up the ladder into the cupboard and believe me, it was cramped. Mono's chest was pressed against my back, and his breath was on my shoulder. I cracked the cupboard door open and peeked out. The living room was empty, and as we crawled out I could hear shuffling in the back.
We crept around into the hallway, and whenever a sound came too close, I froze with Mono behind me. A door was opened just enough for us to crawl through, and we where in a bedroom. The bed was messed up, and seemed empty, but looking around, I saw that the Nomes where staring at pictures. They where pictures of children, I realized.
There where pictures of siblings, with hair colors ranging from strawberry blonde to auburn. They all looked happy, and carved into the frames where the childrens names. "Max, Matt, Richie, Carol, Emma, Raven, Star, Jess.... Jake.... and.... June.... I stared at the picture of twin girls with flowers. They had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. "Where... you... where you kids at some point? Did... did something make you Nomes?"
They nodded."How?" Mono asked. The Lady of The Maw. They wrote on a scrap of paper. Six.
