Delilah
Drowsily I sat up on my elbows looking around with the world in a haze. "Eddie?" I asked aloud, sitting up and stretching my arms out in the backseat of a car I didn't recognize yet.

"Nope guess again." Steve's voice said with a hint of a grin playing around in it.

"Hey Steve, Henderson," I said throwing myself over the seat and leaning on the console between the two guys, smiling at Steve.

"Get in the back Dustin, now," Steve said smacking his arm lightly, Dustin groaned.

"Why do I have to move, Max is gonna be out in like, a little bit." Steve glared making him put his hands up in surrender. "You just want your girlfriend to come sit next to you."

  "Shut it Henderson."

"You're like bright red in the face right now!" Dustin said with a teasing smile.

"I'm not, I don't wanna talk about it. I'll punch you so hard in your face that your teeth will fall back out." Steve said waving a hand around.

"Woah, too far," Henderson said losing his smile.

"Not cool. Sorry." Steve apologized looking guilty.

"Not cool, it's okay," Dustin said softly. The two paused before giving a fist bump, Dustin getting out of the car to swap with me.

"So what are we doing exactly playing stakeout outside some house?" I asked tipping my head back and looking at Steve.

"Well, the redhead dingus had the idea of stealing the keys from her shrinks house so we can see if there's anything that went on with Chrissy or Fred." He explained, looking out his window and observing a house.

  "Fred?" I asked confused.

"Well while you were doing drugs with the fugitive, Nance's assistant at the paper got crumbled up too." He said bitterly, looking dead ahead.

"Don't tell me you're mad about that too," I said quietly. Steve looked at me dead in the eyes.

"I'm trying not to, Robin and Nance already lectured me about this, I just, I'm not crazy about the idea of it." He said drumming his fingers on the wheel.

"Harrington, I promise you this, I may not have the best self-esteem, I may not be the most confident girl in town but, I'm headstrong. If I'm going to do anything it's going to be because I chose to, Eddie didn't make me do anything, I was curious."

"At the least, it eases my mind more hearing those words come from your mouth," Steve said smiling. I rubbed his arm gently as Max came dashing out of the house across the street.

"What'd she say?" Dustin asked buckling up his seatbelt as she climbed in.

"Nothing. Just drive." Max said sternly.

  "Nothing?" Steve asked.

"Just drive Steve!" She demanded louder.

  "Okay!" He said peeling off.

After a little bit of a drive, we pulled up to a school that was clearly closed for business hours. "Not to be a party crasher or anything but I already graduated high school I'm certainly not fond of going back," I said dreadfully as we approached the doors.

"This is where Ms. Kelley's office is, if there's any sort of pattern between Fred and Chrissy then maybe we can make some sort of generalizations about why Vecna picks the victims he does," Max explained as they burst into the school.

Steve followed Henderson and Max through the halls but my feet dragged hesitantly. I couldn't will myself to follow at full speed because I could feel him. Like at any moment I'd turn a corner and Vecna would be standing there.
