As ink seeped into his skin
The pain offset that within
Mind fractured, hope gone
Another night, no more dawn
Not tattoos, these memories
Wei Ying clung to this reality
Raindrops falling, kindling melodies
Death, that cruel finality!
Nothing's eternal
Everything's ephemeral
He lived and lost and forgot
No more would he lose
At least this life, he'd not!
Those names, on him, kept close
One love above all else
Set him afire, the fugue melts
Lan Zhan, the very name a prayer
His own heart, unworthy, betrayer
He tried, his heart buried
His need, his voice carried
Over time and realms and space
Never forgotten, that Beloved face
Yearning, waiting, longing, so long
His thirst, for Him, kept him strong
Sandalwood perfumed the air
His mind conjured that face fair
"Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, you're near?"
How can this be? Irrational fear.
"You called?" He asked wiping away a tear
