Rave

My breaths were heavy as my bare feet slapped against the floor. The halls still had that unpleasant odor that made me anxious, and my hospital gown flew through the wind as widely as my unkempt hair. The doctors would be aware of my disappearance, and I knew they'd search for me soon; however, I knew how to escape all too well to fail. I slipped into a restroom as an announcement spread through the hospital.

"Code blue! Code blue! An adolescent boy, age 16, long black hair, pale skin, has multiple marks and bandages around his head."

'Shit...I thought they'd give me more time than that!'

The door was locked securely, I double checked to make sure of it. Through the door I could hear the free nurses scattering around to look for me. I knew it was the right choice to hide in the restroom, especially the girl's restroom, it would take some time for them to figure out my location. They rambled each other; all unfamiliar, except one. Dr. Sybil; the doctor who crossed paths with me more than a few times. Usually, when we met, she was the doctor bandaging up my injuries, and getting suspicious of why I never accepted pain medication. Nonetheless, I could always escape from her. She's known me for years now, yes, but she never knew me.

The hype was severe now. One of the nurses decided to check my files, probably to understand why I had so many marks on me, and came across all my check-ins and escapes. Everyone now knew what they were working with, they knew all about my injuries, and they knew about the gigantic hospital bill I had. My heart raced and the clock ticked faster. It wouldn't be long until they found me in that restroom. The next set of actions had to be as quick as it is calculated, I couldn't afford to stay here, not under these conditions. When I looked into the mirror, my bright blue orbs were as sad as they were when I entered this unforgivable world, and strands of my black hair crossed my face.

Knock-knock-knock

They were next door to me; I had to go, now.

As quietly as I could I opened the restroom door and attempted to sneak away, but I still managed to alarm the group beside me, and soon everyone else followed.

I resorted to my speed and ran off, dodging one person after another. Multiple nurses grabbed at me, but none succeeded in stopping me. Left, right, another left, a maze; nowhere was safe.

'No!'

They upgraded the hospital since my last visit, and I was in a new building, on a higher floor. Screaming, so much screaming.

"Rave..."

The name, usually positively oriented, turned negative for me. They screamed out my name like they owned it, some speaking calmly like I could trust them as much as they trusted their paychecks.

"Trust me..."

No. The last time I did something like that, I ended up here. I didn't trust a soul, and I never would.

'My head hurts...'

The light blinded me before I had the chance to see. The high pitch ringing in my ears couldn't mask the sound of ruffling papers and a rolling chair next to me.

"Look who's waking up" a soft feminine voice utters sweetly

My eyes shot open, looking in the voice's direction

"Dr. Sybil...what?"

"Well, I am your favorite doctor, aren't I?"

"Huh?"

A giggle slipped through the lips that once protected it.

"I miss you when you were younger!" Sybil explained, "you said that I was your favorite and you'd only let me fix you. How I wish I could have fixed your heart as well..."
